Guys.. I am feeling really optimistic ahead of tomorrow's game.. I mean REALLY OPTIMISTIC.... :)
I'll fill you in with some thoughts in mind..
** ok we might not have the best squad in the Serie A. Teams like AC Milan and Inter have more depth and have higher class NAMES. You can add to them Roma as well. Please consider that during our past history we never had better players than AC Milan or Inter. But we always had better spirit, and thats why we won. We hopefully have the spirit this season as well..
** Our defence is shaky.. I agree. But four seasons ago we managed 3rd position when Milan won the league season 03-04. At that time we had a terrible defence. Even Lippi couldn't do anything about it.
** If we field our best players at the back, namely Andrade, Criscito, Chiellini and Grygera/Zebina/Salehamidizc we have an above average defence. Might not be good enough to stop Inter or AC Milan but I am positive it can stop the rest of the teams in Serie A.
** There is a total of 114 points to be collected over 38 match days. 12 of which includes games home and away against AC Milan and Inter. Lets say we lost all of those 12 points. That leaves us with 102 points ;) . Its winning against other teams that counts.
** Remember our squad includes:
A- The best goalkeeper in the world.
B- One of the most lethal, if not the most lethal finisher in the world, or atleast in the Serie A.
C- One of best assistant striker, who is also one of the best free kick takers and maybe the best penalty taker in the Serie A. Let alone being one of the most talented if not the most talented player in the Serie A.
D- One of the best right wingers in the Serie A
E- One of the best if not the best left backs in the Serie A, who is also the captain of the U21 national team.
F- One of the best defensive midfielders in Italy.
G- One of the best attacking midfielders in the Serie A.

And many more.

** C. Ranieri is a manager who some of us might not like or agree about his decisions alot. He might not have won anything in the past, but hey, take a look at Sir Lippi's history if you exclude the world cup all of his trophies have Juventus written all of them ;)

I am happy :) .. We have recovered from a major unjust hit last summer. We are ready to take back what belongs to us.. SCUDETTO..
Might not happen this season, who knows, but I am positive it'll happen soon.. Sooner than most of our critics think.

Forza Juve per sempre..

I hate optimistic people:D

Anyway, here is the match from Livorno's viewpoint:

Livorno have more pressing injury worries as they will be without key players, Giuliano Giannichedda and Vikash Dhorasoo.

Giannichedda will be unable to face his former employers after straining his right knee, while fellow newcomer Dhorasoo has failed to recover from a groin injury.

However coach Fernando Orsi is still looking forward to opening the Serie A campaign against such esteemed opposition.

He told the club's official website: "Juventus boast a strong squad but we hope to be able to fight them until the last.

"It is an attractive welcome to be able to play an opponent of such a high calibre.

"We are not in the best of shape but we have prepared ourselves well."

I think it's going to be a tough game for us . Livorno are a solid team and their players gel together way better than ours do . Even though we have better quality players , they play better as a team . I expects livorno to play very defensively while we hold posession yet struggle to break through their defensive and we'kk rely on Almiron's creativity more than anything else .

depending on the fitness of tiago and camo here is the team i would pick.

buffon

brazzo andrade criscito cheillini

camo tiago almiron neddy

del piero trez

if camo is not fit enough to start play brazzo right midfield and bring in zebina right back.

i think tiago needs games in order to improve his match fitness and i think he can become a good player for us.

but is he is not ready to start its a tough call for the thinkerman as zanetti has a wealth of experience and he is also a good player very under rated during his career although his best days are behind him he still has 2 more seasons in him.

nocerino has looked a star in the making in some games and average and inexperienced in others he needs to be more consistant but certainly looks like he can develop.

so if tiago is unable to start id like nocerino to start to see how he fairs in a competitive serie a game.

and if camo and tiago are set for the bench i hope ranieri gives them and palladino at least 20 mins of action

Camo can't play for more than 20 minutes and Criscito is injured.

So, as I said earlier, I'd like us to start with a 4-3-1-2

Buffon

Zebina - Andrade - Chiellini - Molinaro

Almiron - Zanetti - Tiago

Nedved

Del Piero - Trezeguet

and then the last 20 minutes let Camo in and switch to 4-4-2.

Livorno are a solid team and their players gel together way better than ours do .

Did you just decide to throw up some random "unique" opinion to try to look clever? Livorno are not a solid side, they're an average side at best. And they lost their best player and their bandiera.
As for the gelling together; A. Filippini, E. Filippini, Giannichedda – Dhorasoo – Tavano, Tristan. That would be their ultimate starting line up for midfield and attack, and they're all new at the club. All are rejects from other clubs, whereas Gianni was not even good enough to tie the other players shoe laces at Juve.

Watch what are you talking!!! Dhoraso & Gianni are injured, as usual.

i would actually go for something like that but the only concern would be the lack of width which would be needed against a team like Livorno that likes to close down every freaking inch of space in their half.

anyway Orsi their coach is Mancini's former assistant, but we dont hear any crying yet so he must be different

And ohh yeah FORZA JUVE!!! We're Back you F*cking c*nts

Nando Orsi assures Livorno will "not be sacrificial lambs" when they take on Juventus this evening.

“Juve are a tough side, but we also hope to do our best to challenge them right to the final whistle,” said the Coach.

“It will be a great game to play against an opponent of such high calibre in the first round. The spotlight will be on us and we do not intend to be sacrificial lambs.”

This is Orsi’s first start to a campaign on a Serie A bench, as he was Roberto Mancini’s assistant manager at Inter and then took over Livorno mid-season.

“It will be exciting for everyone. We hope our desire to do well and our enthusiasm can be transformed into concentration and positive energy.”

Orsi remained cagey over the XI that will begin the match in Turin. “The only certain starter is Marco Amelia in goal. I still have to think about the others.”

The Amaranto step into the Stadio Olimpico without the injured Vikash Dhorasoo and former Bianconeri midfielder Giuliano Giannichedda.

“I really wanted to play this game and it is a real shame I won’t be there,” said Giannichedda. “Unfortunately, this injury is keeping me out and I hope to be back after the break for international duty.

“It will be tough against Juventus, as after a year in Serie B their need to prove a point is palpable. They have many great champions and among the new faces Domenico Criscito, Tiago Mendes and Sergio Almiron are the most impressive.”

No way would I start Tiago if we play 4-4-2. Zanetti or Nocerino next to Almiron is what I would go with.

Claudio's feeling curious
Saturday 25 August, 2007
Claudio Ranieri concedes he’s as curious as anyone to see how Juventus perform in tonight’s Serie A debut against Livorno.
“Am I excited? More than anything else I am incredibly curious! We want to do well and I am convinced this squad has worked in the right way,” said the former Parma and Chelsea boss.

“It’s a totally new side and the first time is always something of a dress rehearsal. It is new for everyone concerned, as it’s a big club coming from Serie B.”

Didier Deschamps walked out just hours after securing promotion last season and Ranieri was given the task of leading them into their first post-Calciopoli campaign.

“I see this season going much the same way as the last in Serie A, but at the moment I don’t know where to put Juve in that grid. I have never felt my teams are inferior to anyone. We must focus only on ourselves and take it one game at a time. The strongest will prove themselves on the field.”

The pre-season friendlies have been disappointing, particularly in defence. Against Livorno they will be without the injured Alessandro Birindelli, Marco Marchionni, Zdenek Grygera and possibly Domenico Criscito.

“I am convinced the defence will do well and that we will get off to a strong start. To grow a tree it is important to have water and sunshine. If you begin with snow and cold, it all becomes more difficult.”

Livorno have also struggled during the summer, especially after losing star striker Cristiano Lucarelli.

“I have clear ideas over how we will approach Livorno, but I prefer to keep those cards close to my chest,” said the Tinkerman.

“They are a solid squad who clam up behind the ball and then hit you on the break. They have Francesco Tavano in place of Lucarelli, while we have to see how long Diego Tristan takes to adapt to Italian football.”

Ranieri is expected to use a 4-4-2 system with Jonathan Zebina, Jorge Andrade, Criscito and Giorgio Chiellini at the back.

Pavel Nedved and Hasan Salihamidzic take the flanks in support of Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet.

Following poor performances in friendly tests, new signing Tiago Mendes could be dropped in favour of Cristiano Zanetti or Antonio Nocerino.

“Mauro Camoranesi is in the side, but at the moment he is only able to play around 10-15 minutes,” concluded the Coach.

Juventus squad: Buffon, Chiellini, Almiron, Zebina, Zanetti, Salihamidzic, Camoranesi, Iaquinta, Del Piero, Nedved, Belardi, Andrade, Trezeguet, Boumsong, Criscito, Palladino, Nocerino, Olivera, Molinaro, Tiago, Legrottaglie
