Mancini: We deserved victory Sunday 4 November, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roberto Mancini insists Inter deserved all three points from the Scudetto showdown with Juventus.

“We didn’t want to get a draw here, but unfortunately if you don’t go 2-0 up then that is what can happen. The draw is not the right result, we deserved all three points,” said the Inter Coach.

“We were in good shape and could not have done any more to win this game – other than score a second goal!

“We wasted a great deal and in football if you do that, you get punished. I am only sorry that we were unable to seal the win, as we were deserving of that victory,” he said after the 1-1 draw in Turin.

“Precisely because it was an important game we should have been more clinical and score as many goals as possible, as with Juve you can never get distracted for a second. This will serve as a lesson in future.”

Julio Cruz opened the scoring just before the break when he sprung the offside trap, but Inter had been caught in that trap repeatedly.

We had so many offsides in the first half, it’s incredible to think they were all accurate calls. They were important goal-scoring opportunities and we should have been more careful.”

Mancini fielded a 4-4-2 system with Luis Figo out wide and Cristian Chivu at left-back.

“I believe that playing with a rhombus midfield is an option and Figo could trouble the Juve defence, but we have a limited midfield at the moment and so that was tricky right now. We are missing Patrick Vieira and Dejan Stankovic, players who defend and attack all at once.”

The Nerazzurri go two points clear at the top of the table, but with Roma’s 2-2 draw at Empoli had the chance to further extend their advantage.

“This was a great opportunity to stretch out at the top, but we cannot have regrets considering our excellent performance.”

A scuffle broke out in the final stages and after the final whistle between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Giorgio Chiellini.

“These are normal things that happen between a defender and a striker on the field, I don’t think it’s anything that needs to be commented on,” assured Mancio.

How silly can you get Mancini
 hes offended that he couldnt beat a team that came back from Serie B.
Thats what happens mancini when you come in to the game over confident. :D

Given Alex 4??? did we arrive to this stupidity? to give him 4???

He was one of the best players in the 1st half....
Take off the Del Piero coloured glasses for once in your life. He and Neddy were awful.

We spent a year and a half waiting for this match and dreaming how Ale and Neddy (our legends and most experienced players) will play the match of their lifes and will fuck Inter. I dreamed of Nedved opening the score and you dreamed of Ale scoring the winner.
And we got what ? The merda handlled them like a teacher handling her kindergarden kids. They should have led us tonight and they did nothing.
Even 4.00 is too much for what they've shown tonight.

There was a heart-warming moment when Ranieri and his players convinced the referee not to book Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar for time-wasting.

“Next to me was Christian Molinaro who was asking for help from the physio, the Inter players saw him but the referee didn’t, so it was only right to explain Julio Cesar was not at fault.”

Ranieri believes in Juve Scudetto Sunday 4 November, 2007

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Claudio Ranieri believes Juventus are in the Scudetto race, although he bows down to Inter. “They are superior.”

The Bianconeri could become the first side in Serie A history to win the title straight after promotion and held the leaders to a 1-1 draw in Turin.

“Inter are superior to us, we are not arguing with that. We want to compete for the title, though,” smiled the Coach.

“We have pride and now Mauro Camoranesi is back, so you can see that when he is on the field there is music and a new harmony.

“The important thing is to be up there, as we have said from the start that we want to be the pain in the backside of Serie A this season. I think many fans around Italy supported us tonight.”

Juve are in the top four and fought back from Julio Cruz’s opener just before half-time.

“The offside trap is a tactic we do well and of course we should have done better on Cruz’s goal, but it is a very difficult system and we’ll study the situation to improve.”

Camoranesi came off the bench to snatch a late equaliser and Ranieri explained why he could not risk him for 90 minutes.

“The last time I tried Camoranesi from the start he tore a muscle and was out for two months. He’s only played 12 minutes, so I preferred to have him fresh when Inter were tired.”

“I’ve only had Camoranesi for practically one half at Cagliari and he gave us the victory. He is a sublime player.

“Vincenzo Iaquinta in his best period of form got bronchitis and had to stay out, so he is also slowly getting back to full fitness. We are not yet as fluid and well-organised in attack as we are in defence or midfield.”

In the meantime, Raffaele Palladino impressed on the right side of midfield, a change for the Under-21 international Trequartista.

“Let us not forget Palladino is a forward, but he is finding his feet on the flank and I am very satisfied with the way he is adapting to this position,” continued the former Chelsea boss.

“It is tricky to find a fault with Inter, especially with Cristian Chivu at left-back hermetically sealing their defence. They are a humble side and you see when they lose the ball that they all come back to defend and put pressure on the opposition.

“When Alessandro Del Piero got the ball he was always closed down by two or even three defenders, so we weren’t quick enough in releasing it and passing it around.”

There were fears over this notoriously bitter grudge match, especially in the wake of Calciopoli, but Ranieri hailed official Gianluca Rocchi.

“Rocchi was excellent. Incidents will always happen, as will errors from players, Coaches or referees. I have never complained about their mistakes and always accept what happens on the field. A referee is the most difficult job in the world, especially if you are in Italy.”

Just compare CR with Mancini and you will feel proud that you are a Juventino.

Ok, I agree that giving 4 to Ale was harsh...

What they do't understand is that Zlatan is half Bosnian and half Croat. And by being born and lived in Sweden he's also a Swede.
They don't understand that we like all our players who have "the same blood" with us. If there is a Lebanese player in serie A i am sure Rab will have a soft spot for him.
For me it's not Zlatan only. Boksic, Tudor, Jarni, Boban, Kovac, Simic... i liked all of them because they are my countrymen.
But by liking the player (mostly because of his nationality) it doesn't mean that we wanted him to do good tonight. We were all happy when Giorgio would have taken the ball from him and kept him quiet duing the match (or "raped him" , if you want)

I really don't understand their logic. It is the logic of a teenager.
If you're teenagers then i'm sorry to all of you and i won't get into any Zlatan related debate with you.
But if you consider yourselves as serious people, use your minds for heaven's sake and think objectively.

Whoever loves Juve will be angry at the way our full backs played in the most important match of the last 2 years. hE/she will be angry we didn't beat and humiliate the bastards by destroying them 3:0. He/she will be angry we fought to get a single point at Olimpico.
And instead of anger we see people having orgasms because Zlatan didn't score and was raped by Giorgio, and they start a crusade against the "Zlatan lovers".
What the fuck is wrong with you ?
I aree with you, especially about third part and how pathetic we know to be.

And about sharing Balkan blood, that is something special we all share I'm 100% sure. I'm always glad when I see that some Croatian or Serbian club/player succeed (except Mihajlovic, God I hate him) and many people don't understand that, but we were one country before we all were pretty much united and we still feel for each other and when I said "WE" I meant on ordinary people who are not acting like sheeps and listening politicans.

Has anyone noticed Mancini's sarcastic smiles each time the ref blow in our favor?it seems he's still living with his paranoia.
Hey we "cured" Calciopolli not Mancini, he needs special treatment for himself.
