SI.com:
Inter is the club that profited most from the Italian match-fixing scandal, replacing Juventus as the league's top team. When Juventus was stripped of the 2005-06 title, it was awarded to Inter.

After signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Patrick Vieira from Juventus, Inter won last season's "scudetto" while the Bianconeri were exiled to Serie B.

For the final 15 minutes of Juventus' 3-0 rout of Empoli on Wednesday, fans at Turin's Stadio Olimpico chanted choruses directed toward Inter.

"It's a game we've been waiting for, and obviously we want to do well, for ourselves, for the fans, and for the league," said Trezeguet, who scored a hat trick against Empoli.

Besides the recent history, the game also has implications in this season's standings.

Through 10 rounds, Inter leads with 24 points. Roma is next with 21 points and Juventus is tied with Fiorentina for third with 20.

"I think they're awaiting this game more anxiously than we are," Inter president Massimo Moratti said. "For Inter, it's an important contest and traditionally a tough one, and nothing more."

Nonetheless, Inter coach Roberto Mancini rested Ibrahimovic in a 4-1 win over Genoa on Wednesday to keep him fresh for the match in Turin, where he'll likely pair with Hernan Crespo. Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar should also return after sitting out the Genoa game with a back injury.

Similarly, Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri played captain Alessandro Del Piero only for the last half hour against Empoli.

"We're facing the Nerazzurri in the best possible condition," Ranieri said. "We have respect for Inter, but we we're going to try and beat them to make the championship more interesting.

"Do we have something extra compared to them? It's tough to say, maybe a great desire to do well," Ranieri added. "Inter can practically rely on two squads, but I've also got a lot of champions available."

Ranieri could opt for a three-pronged attack like the one he fielded in a 2-2 draw with Roma in September, with Vincenzo Iaquinta and Del Piero flanking Trezeguet.

i read it also, i agree with what he says 100% who the hell decided it was a smart move to sell ibra to INTER our RIVALS it has to be the dumbest move of all time
Actually, back then some (read :most of) the members here thought we made the deal of the century for selling such a flop and not talented player for such huge money to Inter.
People here were even happy we sold Zlatan to Inter.

Moratti: "They are the ones who are looking forward to it more. For us it is a traditionally important game, but what matters is the league and each game is worth three points. We are not giving one game priority over an other."

David Trezeguet: "We have waited for this game for one year. Obviously, we want to do well, for ourselves, the fans, the league."

Claudio Ranieri: "Indeed we tackle the blue-blacks in the best possible form. We respect Inter, but will try to beat them to make the league more interesting."

Funny how coaches say "one game at a time" when a huge game is 3 games away, but when the "one game" is a big game its "no game is a priority"

Earth Times:
Juve's lust for revenge and Inter Milan's will to cement their supremacy are the main ingredients of a high-tension Serie A tie set for late Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin. Some of the protagonists have tried with little success to play down a showdown that fans, Juve's in particular, have been waiting more than one year for.

"They are the ones who are looking forward to it more," said Inter president Massimo Moratti. "For us it is a traditionally important game, but what matters is the league and each game is worth three points. We are not giving one game priority over an other."

"We have waited for this game for one year," said Juve striker David Trezeguet, who geared up for the affair with a hat-trick against Empoli in a mid-week round. "Obviously, we want to do well, for ourselves, the fans, the league."

With the Frenchman leading the scorers' table on 10 goals, internationals Vincenzo Ianquinta and Mauro Camoranesi returning from injury and mainstay Pavel Nedved ending a suspension, Juve feel they are in good shape for the game.

After dominating the previous season, Inter sit top once again this year with 24 points from 10 games, four notches above Juve.

Roberto Mancini misses Dejan Stankovic and Patrick Vieira in midfield and may have to keep using third goalkeeper Paolo Orlandoni as Julio Cesar nurses a back pain and Francesco Toldo recovers from a broken foot.

Second-placed Roma won the city derby over Lazio to remain three points clear of Inter. On Sunday afternoon they face an away game at Empoli after which they'll become one-time fans of Juve along with Fiorentina.

The Florence side lie level with Juve on 20 points ahead of a game at Lazio Saturday and hope to improve their standing like Udinese, on 18 points when they visit bottom side Livorno.

juve must play ... 4-3-3 with iaquinta del piero flanking treze as we playe in rome.. that will be the best way to beat them... now i undestand why moratti left ibra on the bench ... to keep him fresh on sunday but we did the same and we kept ALESSANDRO DEL PIERO ON THE BENCH ... in order to keep him fresh ... SO i think this game must be called DEL PIERO VS IBRAHIMOBITCH

If Torino could halt us when they had a serie b team, while we had a top CL team, just by their sheer will, then we can halt Inter now, we are NOT allowed to lose for many SACRED reasons.
The players and the managers do not wont to dissapoint the fans anymore.
They realised the importance of this match 2 years ago, they have created unpreceded expectations.
If we lose this game we will not only lose any title illusions we may have, but we might risk our CL position as well, this much will greatly affect our mentality and Inters too, certainly for the rest of the season and maybe even more.
There are no excuses, if there is one game we must win at all costs, for the entire year, its this one, its a very hard task but not an impossible one.
Whatever happens we will all be here supporting Juventus in the next day,
but Juvetus has now the chance, to make us walk down the street with a proud smile in our faces again, its time to shown to the world of what we are really made of, world cup champions, conspiracy masterminds, referee mistakes, injuries, suspensions, traitors and born chokers may not and WILL NOT stop us.

If it gets ugly and they get in a similar position, as Empoli's, with Materazzi as a keeper, we ought not to stop, they need to be punished,
i wish for a 3-0 win, though i would be most pleased by a 1-0 win, granted by an undeserved penalty...thats what it will hurt them the most!!

We are the underdogs, but we have to eat them alive, chew their bones and $hit their pieces...
this post send shivers down my spine.

i cannot wait till sunday!! we must take advantage of their jetlagness having travelled all the way from argentina for the game. :pumpkin:

let's give them an early christmas present :santa:

Cruz Warns Juventus

Inter striker Julio Cruz talked about Sunday night's highly anticipated match against Juventus.

Three days before the highly-anticipated face-off between Juventus and Inter in Turin, the Nerazzurri's Argentinean striker Julio Cruz, something of a bogeyman for the Bianconeri in recent years, is eager to meet his favorite 'prey' again on Sunday night.

"Let's say that playing against Juve in November brings me good luck," he said to Sky's microphones, "this year they've come back to Serie A and our first meeting with them will again take place in Turin. Let's hope things go well once again this time, as they did before.

"I believe," he continued, "that Inter care more about the match against Juve than the derby against Milan. That's my sensation after these years at Inter. They will put in all their pride and they'll fancy their chances, just as all teams always give their best against Inter.

"But we want to win the match because we are aiming to win the Scudetto and to do that you have to beat direct opponents like Juve and Roma."
