The season begins with a win for the Bianconeri, who win Chievo at the Delle Alpi in the late match of the season 2005-2006 first match. The match was dominated by Capello’s side and decided on 36 minutes by Trezeguet’s header. In comparison with the line-up who played the Supercoppa last Saturday, Thuram comes back, after recovery, and Abbiati makes his debut on his first official match in the black&white outfit.
After 6 minutes Capello must replace Zebina with Pessotto for injury. The Bianconeri attack from the very start of the game, with Trezeguet pressing Fontana after 9 minutes and after 11 his header ends wide of the net. On 14’ minutes Ibrahimovic’s attempt on goal is cleared and then deflected into the corner. Chievo push forward on 12’ minutes with Pellisier trying a shot on goal from the edge of the box. Juventus look for the goal persistently with Ibrahimovic and Trezeguet, who tries to worry Fontana on 31’ minutes. On 34’ minutes it’s still the Frenchman who gets dangerous and, assisted by Ibrahimovic, his shot on the turn ends slightly out of target. The deserved goal by Trezeguet comes two minutes later when the Bianconero forward gets Zambrotta’s cross pass and nods it in (1-0).
In the second half, Juventus easily manage their lead and look for a double score at the start of the half time with a fine pass between Vieira and Cannavaro but in front of the goal Trezeguet and Ibrahimovic hamper each other; then on 14 minutes Camoranesi attempts on goal with a left-footed shot from the edge of the box and on 20’ minutes with a header but Malagò clears on the line and again on 25’ minutes from the edge of the area, which is deflected into the corner.
