Man this defense is gonna give us all, heart attacks till the end of the season.
What the hell is wrong with them? they cant do a simple man-marking.

Aquilani-melo worked like a charm.A little time to adopt to each others play and we'll have killer midfield.

We looked really dangerous upfront and stupidly vulnerable at defense.which is ridiculous for a big club.

The set pieces make little difference. If it wasn't Pepe it was gonna be DP or Krasic.
It's his movement that adds a lot.
Maybe. But one thing I noticed of him at the WC, was exactly that. The guy simply has a knack for it.

Did you watch the game, Stu? Because Pepe assisted one goal and indirectly all three other goals we scored, each of them came after his dangerous set-pieces.
Yes I did watch the game. Okay he took some good set pieces, Del Piero will do that for us when he's playing. Other than dead ball situations Pepe did not offer a lot in attack. He was solid today, nothing more.

The other thing is that Iaquinta believes in power. Like that one on one with the goalie where he just blasted directly to the goalie's face!
he just needs time to become fitter ... yes, he is someone who believes in power, but there is nothing wrong with that ... i still remember situations in 2007 or 2008 where he took the ball on the halfway line and sprinted past the defenders and they could not get him because he was so damn fast... he is a good weapon, when fit and when occasions appear where we can play his pace to our advantage !

i can not understand why someone would blast iaquinta for that one scene, because iirc he was hassled by two opponents and had very few time and space to do anything. he had to shoot otherwise the opponents would have been able to disturb him even more.

We aren't saying that he isn't a useful player, just that he isn't very talented.

A great midfield performance won us a game that we could not afford to lose.

Storari: Despite the two goals (which were brilliantly taken by Matri- if we had him instead of BOTH Amauri and Iaquinta we would have won this game 8-0) I thought he made a couple of crucial saves, especially the won right after half time. Doesn't look confident communicating with his defence, especially on corners- but this will come 6.5

Rinaudo: Yea...he's pretty bad. Slow, clueless etc. One nice cross and one flick on for goal # 3 aren't enough for me. 4.5

Bonucci: It was hard to tell who was at fault for the first goal- it looked like both defenders pretended they were doing an offside trap to look like they had a clue. But tonight...they didn't. 5

Chiellini: As above, poor distribution too. Some good nuggety defending at times though. 5.5

Grygera: Easily our best defender tonight, although Calgiari seemed weak on their right. Good distribution. Even got a nutmeg in as he joined the attack. 7

Krasic: Looks so positive, so confident. Was strange that he was so vital tonight, as compared to the last few games not as much play went through him. This is probably due to a lot of poor distribution from the back. but WOW, each goal was BEAUTIFUL. Nedved is my favourite player of all time, but Milos has his own style and will write HIS name in the history books. Can't wait to see him slaughter Inter. 8.5

Felipe Melo: Still frustrating to watch at times, some of his passing was really sloppy tonight, but he did a great job of covering in front of the defence. Many decisive tackles and intercepts tonight, some great touches, a shot that was unlucky to get slightly deflected. Kept a dangerous Cossu mostly quiet though. 7.5

Aquilani: Showed some nice touches, but once he is more fit, I'd like to see more play go through him. Some of his tackling was average at best. Together with Melo, they dominated the mid though. 6

Pepe: All goals came directly or indirectly through him. Still, average on the ball in my opinion. I like how he comes into the game more as others fade around him, great fitness. 6.5

Iaquinta: This guy is dogshit. Can Martinez control the ball? If so, Iaquinta should be watching the rest of the season from the stands, or on television...in another city. When I saw he couldn't score against my country at the world cup I knew he were in for a long season. And whats with his face? He always looks like he is about to cry. If he keeps playing this way, there will be many tears for all of us this season. 3

Amauri: I really feel sorry for Amauri. He just has such a loser vibe. Tries so hard...usually to no avail, although his hard work contributed to Krasic's second. If he can stay fit, he will prosper from our Weepic midfield though. 6

Subs:

Sissoko: Just looks like a giant pair of uncontrollable legs at times. But showed good poise to help close the game out. Should not start though.

Del Piero: Has what the starting strikers lack- a brain.

Legro: ... =(

Del Neri: Won the game while rotating the squad, getting some match fitness for Aqua, Amauri etc. The 442 is working overall, just individual blunders are costing us at the back.

Yeah, he can or Krasic can, but today it was Pepe. You're disregarding his effect over some hypothetical situations. He assisted one goal for Krasic, Bonucci's goal was practically an assist for him as well. Add to that other dangerous set pieces which ended in goals, his work rate and movement, Pepe was far more than solid. Clearly our best player after Krasic.

I'm not sure. It's not a good idea to play them at the same time though.
IIRC in Amauri's first season their partnership was brilliant, they played to eachothers strengths. But ever since Amauri's loss of form (about 20 months ago....) they've just looked incompatible, maybe because Amauri is just rubbish though!!

Pepe does run alot.. And his movement does add us more.. But that said, he runs like a headless chicken! His crosses are nothing special. He cant run with a ball and is not sure when trying to beat a man.

Marchisio does offer the same when it comes to running.. and what more, he does it better as he knows when to let go of the ball. He prob can cross better.. + he has a better shot.. I could go on..

Pepe is NOTHING really..And it amazes me to see some say he has been world class so far.

We can't solve Defense line's Problems :(...We hate you Moratta :andy2:
Wtf? Everyone was shitting their paints when we signed Bonucci, its not Marotta's fault that his centre backs, which are one of the best in Italy didn't mark such a preventable opener from Cagliari. And don't say we didnt sign full backs because both goals were either Bonucci or Chiellini's fault (defense wise). I'm not saying our FBs are good, but Marotta isn't Jesus Christ and can't perform miracles with a 7th place team.

Fuck, speak for yourself.

Two good set piece deliveries = a great game? He didn't beat his opposing defender once for the whole game and he didn't play any incisive passes. I'm not saying he had a bad game. He worked really hard and provided some good crosses. He was solid, not great.

Pepe isn't our problem at this time, he contributes to our team and isn't the fault for the defensive problems we clearly have, so we should be focusing on improving our defense and be happy that we score all those goals! I'm impressed by Del Neris use of this squad and can now see why we did what we did in the transfer market, even though I where skeptical to him at first. Forza Juve and hopefully Del Neri can do miracles with the defense until next match!
