I'd rather start Quag in this game since we have EL match afterwards and DP must play (Quag can't play in the EL).

Yes but the reliance on Del Piero freekicks is worrying.
True but it's part of the game. We can play a good game and have plenty of freekicks and we can also play badly and still have plenty of freekicks.... All in all, it can't be anything but a bonus for us.

You'd actually start Del Piero and Quag if one of Amauri and Iaquinta is available?
Why did we switch to 4-4-2 then?
I said we should start with DP and Iaquinta, not DP and Quag as you suggested.

I think you misread or misunderstood my post.

What form is that exactly?

I still think that DP can do much more damage to the opposition as a super sub. 30 minutes of a fresh Del Piero against a more tired opposition will bring us more points.
Unfortunately, the guy who's supposed to start if DP is benched is not someone who is superior to Del Piero.

Tricky and stupid situation.
Why is that unfortunate? If he was superior to Del Piero then wouldn't he start then?

I don't see Del Piero as someone who can start regularly for a big club anymore. I see him as a bench player who even though has no speed whatsoever, still has technique and quality to do well for 30 minutes.
But in order to have Del Piero on the bench, you need someone better to play in his position in the starting XI. The unfortunate part is that we don't have such a player now.

In these early stages of the league I'd still take a risk and start Quag to see how it works. If he plays well then great. We get a good starter and Del Piero can do what I think he's best suited for right now. Come from the bench in the last part of the match. If it doesn't work we can always revert to starting Del Piero.

But I think Del Neri would rather keep his job.

lol @ Del Neri keeping his job.

Keep in mind Martinez is a good SS, he can also be tried. I do however agree that DP can no longer start - last 30 min cameo would be great

I love Juve too. Doesn't change that we had a bad mercato. I'll always support the players that walk on the pitch and bust their arses for this team but why should I support certain decision makers who want to fulfill their desire to service their national team at the expense of the team they work for?

If you love a club you should be content with nothing but whats best for your team and that means being sceptical occasionally.
