A pre qualifying round is un-welcome but it's a reality I'm afraid. If I remember rightly Man Utd had to play a qualifying round the year they won it, but it could be a potential disaster.

no no they were the champios so they didn't play the qualifying round.

of course it could be a disaster. well let's see...
Ajax were almost eliminated by Grazer AK.
Newcastle were eliminated by partizan, and Dortmund were eliminated by Brugge.

last year Milan (the champions in that year), escaped an elimination with an away goal at teplice. we remember Parma losing to Lille, Inter losing to Helsingborg and a few more jokes in the qualifiying rounds.

so as you said, qualifiying matches could be realy dangerous, and are unwelcomed!

I'm sure they did. They finished 2nd in the EPL in 1997-1998 at that time only champions qualified automatically - but I could be wrong, my memory is bad!

I think I'll wait and see the goals before I comment on Buffon's performance.
He was at fault for the first 2 without a doubt, especially the 1st, it was such a weak shot. Konan's 2nd goal was quality though.

Will Juve be able to field the potential new signings for the C.L. Qualifications? Is there a cut-off date or something in July? I don't want to see the same squad from this year playing in those games.
