Look at this:

Totti is on 98 Serie A goals from 280 games!!
Del Piero on 108 Serie A goals from 273 (I think) games!
DP still better scoring record ;)
Forza il Capitano bianconero
DO you know Inzaghis and Vieris Serie A record with how many total Serie A games and goals?

"We are all going into a ritiro from this evening - the coach has said - “This is a decision made by the club and it applies to everyone, except those players called for international duty.”

    Juve punish disappointing players
    Sunday 25 April, 2004

Juventus have punished their players for today’s 4-3 home defeat by throwing all the players and Coach into a pre-match training camp.

“We are all going into a ritiro from this evening,” confirmed Marcello Lippi following the humiliating setback to Lecce.

“This is a decision made by the club and it applies to everyone, except those players called for international duty.”

The Bianconeri have been struggling throughout the last few months, but the shambolic display against relegation battlers Lecce proved the final straw.

Nonetheless, it is a very unusual move for Juventus to put their players in a pre-match training camp for an entire week, as it is usually a tactic taken by the smaller Italian sides.

“This wasn’t a good day for us,” continued the tactician, “and the system we used was not to blame. We have given our opponents too many chances with both set-ups.”

Lippi was under fire for fielding a top-heavy side with four forwards and attacking fullbacks, a tactic that allowed counter-attack specialists Lecce to thrive.

It now looks as if Juventus have lost all hope of capturing second place off Roma, so they will have to go through the qualifying round for the Champions’ League.

“Probably this is the end of our bid for second,” admitted the Coach, “as it really is too difficult now.”

Juve’s one remaining objective is now the Coppa Italia, but they have already lost the first leg of the Final 2-0 to Lazio.

I didn't see the game, but I followed along the cut-ins during the Milan-Udinese game on RAI and I caught the highlights on Novantisimo Minuto.

Buffon definitely looked to have a really bad day. A couple of goals were largely his fault, IMO. But the defense didn't look like it was offering much help -- Legrotaglie out of position (if not running into a teammate), Tudor gets nutmegged for a goal, even Zambro looked bad in the game "high"lights.

Lecce had not scored 4 goals in a game all year, but they did it on our home pitch. Brilliant.

The saving grace for this match seems to be:
    - Del Piero is back
    - Maresca showed a little of his stuff
    - Trez may have helped his trade value a little (?!)
    - Once again, Lippi and the team proved that there are serious problems that aren't going away without serious work. You can't blame injuries for this one. You can't blame it as a one-time fluke.

Having to qualify for the CL sucks. But let's face it -- we don't deserve an automatic bid. No one on this team should feel they deserve anything other than the right to prove that they've earned something. This team really needs to recognize that they are entitled to nothing and that they have everything to prove from here on.

coem on lippi hasnt been all that bad it was only this season and okay maybe the players that he used r getting tired and are not use to the new formation
cut the guy some slack! he is a great coach who only manged to not get us the chmaipoinship for one year
It's one thing not to get into a championship. It's another to give up 4 goals on your home pitch to teams like Lecce -- and have that not be the exception for the season, but more part of the rule or trend.

I don't think you can dress up this season and say, "Can't win them all, we'll get them next season." That's just burying your head in the sand and wishing problems will go away on their own, which is the completely irresponsible thing to do.

And it's not a habit of champions, that's for sure.

Losing 3-4 on your home ground to a team like Lecce is worse than losing 4-0 to Depor away :sigh:

Maybe it's better for us to play through the qualification matches. If we sign a lot of new players (which we hopefully will do), we'll need to get them used to playing with each other, adapt to the tactics. We don't deserve to go straight into the CL anyhow

Good point, and starting pre-season earlier than we normally would is an advantage of sorts as we would be sharper and have more matches under our belt when the start of the Serie A season arrives. It's not the greatest of boosts, I know, but still...
