Then be consistent and hold the other midfielders accountable. The others made more mistakes and didn't really add anything either besides side to side passes. Marchisio squandered a chance developed by Pogba and Vidal's only threat were hopeful crosses.
The midfield was poor I agree.

But I liked Marchisio and Vidal trying to pass forward more and get about the pitch.

I get that Pogba's role was clearly to sit and act as an outlet in the middle. I just think he could have stepped up a gear to find space in the first half when FF and Immobile were around him and shown more inventiveness with his passing. He is more than capable of that as he showed with his sublime pass to Marchisio, he just did that far too rarely today for my liking.

even if we had gotten that PK and converted, it would have been an undeserved victory.

team looked sluggish and disinterested.
This.

Not sure that was a penalty, it bounced from tge defender leg straight to his arm, in situations like this it down to the refree interpretation.

We're too full of ourselves now - no longer treat the opposition with respect. And I thought this game would allow us to vent our frustrations, it has only caused more :sergio:

Hmmm, the midfielders were disastrous. I don't see why are they getting high ratings. You have at least 15 situations when Vucinic gets the ball with his back on goal, waiting for a midfielder to make a run, seeing that there is noone doing it and ends up losing the ball. The midfield didn't even try to contribute in attack. It was sad watching Vucinic and Lichtsteiner being the only ones who try to do something. Apart from Marchisio's chance in the first half, the midfielders entered Genoa's box only during set pieces.

Conte confirms the 4th ref and linejudge behind the net said it was a PK and the ref told Conte I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE GIVING IT.

Oh yeah, a lot of people sees that as a pen, nothing wrong there. Interpretation. To be honest i'm more curious about the supposed shirt-pulling foul on Vucinic, didn't catch the replay for that.
It was a shirt pull similar to that of Milito when inter played against us. There was a clear pull but vuci didn't fall right away. He still tried to get the ball but fell when he saw he couldn't get to it.
