I hear ya. You want us to not make the classical Italian mistake and holding the same team together longer than it should be. But spending 15M for the half of a Berardi when there is a Dybala available for ~25 (and others) just feels wrong to me. Ofc Dybala or Firmino haven't proven themselves in Europe either but they transmit a bigger spark than Berardi in my book.

I don't think Dybala, or most other great talents will be avaibable for 25 million. Bargains such as Tevez or Vidal aside, which can't be taken for granted every Mercato, we can't afford proven world class players, which would be the instant quality infusion you mention. Investing in promising talents such as Berardi or Morata is the best way forward in that regard, even if it may not work out with every single player.

And I'm confident that would Dybala only cost 25 million, we'd make an offer.

It's the same thing as last summer, when people were so certain we could get Sanchez for 25 million. For some reason fans always seem to think their club has some strange mystique that will make potential stars force moves here at discount rates.

Sanchez/Pastore never proved anything either in a "proper league" before their big money moves so I don't see why he wouldn't leave for a lot.

If he has that many interested clubs as it's being reported they'll inflate his price in a bidding war. Like Hustini said, he won't go for less than 35m.
