It doesn't matter. We need the quality infusion right now and not in 5 years when Berardi might show himself. Therefore we need to direct every penny of ours in the direction of guaranteed instant quality in 15/16. We're in the wrong thread anyway, sorry for derailing this.

Look at the ages of the signings we're making. Guaranteed instant quality probably will not be coming in, but instead we are focusing on rebuilding the squad with young players with potential. Our average age is 29, if we don't start planning replacements now we're going to be screwed very, very soon.

I hear ya. You want us to not make the classical Italian mistake and holding the same team together longer than it should be. But spending 15M for the half of a Berardi when there is a Dybala available for ~25 (and others) just feels wrong to me. Ofc Dybala or Firmino haven't proven themselves in Europe either but they transmit a bigger spark than Berardi in my book.

I don't think Dybala, or most other great talents will be avaibable for 25 million. Bargains such as Tevez or Vidal aside, which can't be taken for granted every Mercato, we can't afford proven world class players, which would be the instant quality infusion you mention. Investing in promising talents such as Berardi or Morata is the best way forward in that regard, even if it may not work out with every single player.

And I'm confident that would Dybala only cost 25 million, we'd make an offer.

Dybala will have a pretty good chance to prove himself since we are playing Palermo next game.Sassuolo is more then a must win...

It's the same thing as last summer, when people were so certain we could get Sanchez for 25 million. For some reason fans always seem to think their club has some strange mystique that will make potential stars force moves here at discount rates.

yeah it's weird.

u get average players like pepe and pereyra costing 15m. why think that much better talents will go for 25m is baffling.

With a contract expiring in 2016? Today's Serie A has a reputation of exporting flops. All Serie A talents are now being discussed with a note of "but he hasnt proven himself in a proper league".
Sanchez/Pastore never proved anything either in a "proper league" before their big money moves so I don't see why he wouldn't leave for a lot.

Would like to see a confident win here, allowing Sassuollo as little as possible in order to entirely forget that abysmal showing against Fiorentina. Defense to make no blunders, midfielders to control the game and clinical finishing from our striker.
Since when did you support Real Madrid?

What I find hilarious is look how much money those players left those little clubs for?? And look how much we palm off our players for which most of the time we couldn't even give them away. Love how Chelsea have been doing their business of late.

And knowing what kind of person Zamparini is he will ask for 42 to let him go 35-38 for sure.

If he has that many interested clubs as it's being reported they'll inflate his price in a bidding war. Like Hustini said, he won't go for less than 35m.
