ntonio Chimenti (born 30 June 1970 in Bari) is an Italian football goalkeeper. He currently plays for Juventus FC, on loan from Udinese Calcio.
Chimenti played for modest clubs in Italy until 1997, when he served a two year-stint with A.S. Roma. After three impressive seasons with U.S. Lecce, he was snapped by Juventus F.C. in July 2002, where he played understudy to Gianluigi Buffon. On January 2006, Chimenti signed a two-year deal with Cagliari Calcio on a free transfer, despite having still 6 months in his Juventus contract left.
For 2007-08, Chimenti signed for one season with Udinese Calcio, again on a free transfer, on 29 June 2007, backing up Samir Handanovic. However, in 2008-09, he returned to Juventus, this time on loan, as Alexander Manninger, Carlo Cudicini, Francesco Antonioli, Flavio Roma and several others were also linked to the Turin giants.
Chimenti made his 2008 Juventus debut, coming on for Buffon in a friendly versus Brøndby IF. On August 5, 2008, however, the club signed Austria's Manninger, due to some poor performances by Chimenti during pre-season, thus demoting the latter to third-choice.
Chimenti's father Francesco (ex-Osimana) and uncle Vito (ex-Taranto Sport), were both also footballers.
