The comeback was convincing...once the subs were made we were clearly the better team. Sure they missed chances...so did we. We just put more of ours away. And going 2-0 up that early is hardly game over. Maybe if there's 5mins left and even then stranger things have happened. Besides we scored 3...they scored 2....so that wouldn't even be enough.

As awesome as Vuci was, Buffon gets my vote because Mirko's goal was a PK drawn by Asa, and his second assist was a very fortunate deflection. That save right before Giacchy's goal was just so crucial...

Forza SuperGigi, making himself BIG as always.

I had to give it to Giaccherini -- he held the team together with great play when everyone kinda sucked ass. This was a character-building match... the one you have to hang in there and suffer through before you can turn it around with subs and due time. Giaccherini embodied what it took to hold on until the tide came the rest of the team's way.

Genoa put in a textbook start for playing against a top side. They pressed hard, played lots of balls in behind the defence and then pressed some more. Juve were never allowed to settle or develop any sort of rhythm.

Genoa's one failing was that they only got the one goal, when I don't think anyone could have complained had they been 3-0 up after half an hour. Juve started to improve after about half an hour, but were still poor. That period of the game was fairly even, with both sides missing chances. Then once Juve equalised Genoa lost belief as they knew they'd blown their big chance and all the effort they'd put in in pressurising Juve had been for nothing and then the inevitable tiredness kicked in late on.

Juve really were awful in that first half, though.

The defence were incredibly timid and were frequently left exposed by Juve's llightweight midfield that was playing too high up the pitch and leaving huge spaces for Genoa players to get the ball and run at Juve's defence.

I could be kind and say that Juve weren't focused as they were already thinking about Chelsea, but I'm not really convinced that was the case.

I understood the need for Juve to start to rotate the squad a bit, but a Marchisio-Pirlo-Giaccherini just doesn't have enough muscle for a tough away game like that. If Juve want to rest Vidal, they need to bring Asamoah or Pogba into the team for him.

And Juve are going to be in trouble against Chelsea if they continue to defend set-pieces the way they have this season.

Why isn't anyone taking the responsibility to go and attack the ball? Why is it so hard for Bonucci and Barzagli to decide how to deal with a CF who starts with Bonucci and drifts to the back post towards Barzagli as the cross comes in?

Chiellini and Bonucci, having started terribly, both at least improved as the game went on.

Barzagli was just dreadful thoughout.

Juve will need to be far more aggressive against Chelsea in midweek or they will be bullied at set-pieces by guys like Terry and Ivanovic who really know how to go and attack the ball.

We got away BIG time.

Terrible starting lineup and mentality from players and Conte. Lucky not to be 3 or 4-0 down at HT.

When our regulars came on and we settled down a big, we owned them hard. Vucinic is just sensational, I have a serious man crush developing for him. He changed the game for us. And of course, props to Gigi for his massive saves...MOM definitely.

I'm a massive Matri fan, but it's clear to me he is in terrible form and his head is not in the right place. That miss was simply unforgivable.

Exactly, I worry that could be our undoing in important games like CL - we can't get our heads to the ball first whenever high balls and crosses are being played in.

On a more positive note, I was very pleased to see how our teammates congratulated each other after the game. Team spirit right there.

Also, Bonucci and Boriello face off :lol:

The Good: Vucinic, Asamoah, Buffon, Giacherrini, Lichsteiner, and Carrera

The Bad: Caceres, De Ceglie, Marchisio

The Ugly: Our back three of Barza, Chiellini, and Bonnucci

Our defense was left cruelly exposed by a lightweight midfield, but we the three guys at the back were in shambles and should've done better as a unit. I hope this is just a one off and they pull themselves together, as we have a difficult stretch of games coming up. We must defend better on set pieces, otherwise it'll come back to haunt us, and in a game we desperately need to win.
