Just DO NOT start Borriello. In fact, DO NOT even put him on the bench.

Buffon

Licht - Caceres - Vidal - De Ceglie

Marchisio - Pirlo - Marrone

Pepe - Matri - Vucinic (Quag)

That's a terrible formation (sorry Rab :D)

In the time when our defense is the worst possible, you guys are actually inviting Genoa to easily cruise through the midfield and you're taking a midfielder out in order to put an attacking player?

What looks on paper as an attacking team that should create and score a lot will be a terrible formation in reality where our team will completely lose the midfield and those 4 attacking players will get the ball much less than usually.

Our 4-4-2 failed against Chievo and we'll fail even more away to Genoa when the defense is 10 times weaker than it was vs Chievo.
It's not like we havent played without Vidal in midfield before! And who would you play there than? If we play the 4-4-2 as we did at the begining of the season we will not fail. And besides, its not like we have been winning the last 6 games with 4-3-3 or 3-5-2!

The problem is that both Pirlo and Marchisio have less power in their legs than they had at the start of the season. With the defense badly weakened it's gonna look really bad when we lose the center of the midfield and we will lose it if Pirlo and Marchisio are the only ones there.
Available players/in form players should decide what formation to use. In our current situation we need that extra man in midfield. 3-5-2 or 4-3-3 would do the job but the absence of all our CBs puts the 3-5-2 out too so we're left only with the 4-3-3 as the only logical formation for this match (or make it 4-3-1-2, 4-3-2-1...whatever, as long as we don't leave Pirlo and Marchisio alone in front of our defense).

P.S: I didn't understand it back then and I still don't understand what was the point of letting Pazienza go and buy Padoin.
Oh, and Borriello won't start 100%. Matri will start.
