Huge sigh of relief etc.

As for what formation I want to see, it is similar to Rebs, with a few tweaks:

Buffon
Grygera-Legrotagglie-Chiellini-Molinaro
Brazzo-Zanetti-Nedved
Tiago
Iaquinta-Trezeguet

Iaquinta hasn't started in a few games so he deserves this one and I think we will be getting a lot of great delivery from Nedved, Tiago and Brazzo for our two strikers, hopefully.

What I think we will see, however:

Buffon
Grygera-Legrotagglie-Chiellini-Molinaro
Brazzo-Nocerino-Zanetti-Nedved
Del Piero-Trezeguet

I think that is good formation too. I would also like to see Paladino

Ranieri on red alert

Saturday 12 January, 2008

Claudio Ranieri admits he’s a little worried that Juventus will underestimate Catania in this evening’s match.

“I am a little concerned, as we finished 2007 with three consecutive victories and must not make the mistake of resuming Serie A with our holiday heads on,” said the Coach.

“It will be crucial not to get off to a bad start if we want to continue the way we have been going. We need to get right back into it with the same determination as always.”

The Bianconeri have spent this week in an intensive training camp in Malta and only flew up to Catania on Friday evening.

They played one friendly game while there, a disappointing 1-1 draw with local side Valletta that was eventually won by the Maltese players on penalties.

“I do not get angry if we lose a friendly and go on to win the official matches,” smiled Ranieri.

“The important thing is to do well when the result counts. The defeat to Valletta should serve as a lesson, reminding us that if we don’t give 120 per cent then we will lose.

“Catania are a team who play well on home turf, so it won’t just be a physical game. Both sides will go out on to the field looking to play the ball to feet, so I expect it to be an open encounter.”

Tiago Mendes could be given his chance to shine in midfield with Pavel Nedved, Cristiano Zanetti and Antonio Nocerino.

“He has changed and improved. I notice just by how easily he manages to do difficult things now. That wasn’t the case before, but he has the same chances as anyone to play.”

Ranieri may nonetheless bring in reinforcements over the January transfer window – above all Liverpool’s Mohamed Sissoko – and summer targets lining up to admit their eagerness for a Turin move include Rafael Van Der Vaart and Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

“Juve remain competitive and the Queen of world football. They have recaptured all of their appeal and I think few players can turn down Juventus.”
