Toscani: "Juve have Mafia mentality" | Football Italia

World famous photographer Oliviero Toscani accused Juventus of having a “Mafia-style mentality” and referees of “bowing” to the club.

Toscani famously created a series of controversial advertising campaigns for Benetton from 1982 to 2000 and remains active in the fashion industry.

He is also a committed Inter supporter and made some shocking comments on Radio 24 show La Zanzara today.

“If I were a Juventus player, I’d be ashamed and certainly not gloat about winning like this,” said Toscani.

“In fact, in the past great champions have left this club for that reason. I pity them, too: they have to be helped to win, just like at Fiat.

“It’s the usual Italian story. Juventus aren’t as successful in Europe, how strange… They want to win regardless, without being sporting about it. At the end of the day it’s a robbery, they don’t want to challenge you on a level playing field.

“This in my view is a Mafia-style mentality, they get results via short-cuts. They want to win anyway. They steal. That’s the situation, just look at the last game with Inter.

“They’re famous for it, everyone knows. If you play against Juve, you start 2-0 down.”

Toscani’s most shocking comments were reserved for the referees in Italy.

“You know when in towns in the south there’s a parade through the streets once a year and they carry the statue of the Madonna? They reach the house of the local Mafia boss and make the Madonna bow to his home. Referees do the same thing with Juve.”

The funny thing is that Napoli dude who wants the Inter Juve to be replayed.. No problem but if we are at it I want a replay of that last 5 minutes against Real.. Im sure we can beat Inter again and not concede in 5 minutes against Real...

Why should we only replay the last 5 minutes against Real and not the whole game? Makes zero sense.

Pecoraro: 'Nothing in Allegri tapes’ | Football Italia

FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Pecoraro says tapes of Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri speaking to Paolo Tagliavento “showed absolutely nothing”.

The Bianconeri boss was seen speaking to the fourth official after the Derby d’Italia with Inter, saying of referee Daniele Orsato: “it went really well… He was so good… Promote him!”.

The footage was passed to the Federation to establish if there had been any wrongdoing, but they decided almost immediately there was no case to answer.

“I saw the videos circulated on the internet but they showed absolutely nothing,” Pecoraro told Tuttosport.

“Nor did they represent a reason to open any file. At most you could object to the ethics of certain attitudes, but I don’t deal with ethics.

“From a disciplinary point of view it has no relevance whatsoever. Full stop.

“Social media barely counts for anything because there’s a fundamental problem: the certainty and the neutrality of the sources themselves.

“If I watch a video of a certain event, how can I be sure of its authenticity?

“It’s one thing if reports come to me from the employees of the federal prosecutor or the police, quite another if it's videos that appear on the internet.”

Looks like FIGC is on our payroll now :baus:

I remember hearing when there were talks of us suing the FIGC for 400 million that we were negotiating getting our two scudettos back to drop the suit. What ever happened to that?

Moratti: 'Inter-Juve return to the past'
    By Football Italia staff

Massimo Moratti felt the controversy in Inter’s loss to Juventus “felt like a return to the past. There are many things that don’t add up.”

The debate continues to rage over refereeing decisions in the 3-2 Juve victory, above all the Matias Vecino straight red and failure to give Miralem Pjanic a second yellow card.

“For many Interisti, it was like a return to the past and you suddenly feel you are back there in the middle of what you experienced before,” said the former President at a public event.

“We’ve been the victims of strange situations. Games like the one we had on Saturday make us feel even more committed to supporting Inter.

“It was heroic to stay in the game for that long until the 85th minute and we could’ve done it for another five.”

Vecino was sent off using VAR technology, but the consistency of the refereeing remains an issue.

“I think VAR is very important, because it takes away all doubt. It was absolutely right to introduce it in Serie A, as we saw in the recent Champions League games that missing VAR really takes something away from you.

“Having said all of that, behind the VAR screen is still a person and therefore someone who might not necessarily see things the same way as another official.

“To be honest, I felt a lot of anxiety watching the game, because the Pjanic foul was part of the warfare we saw on the pitch and it felt like every moment was going to bring a new incident.

“Then he made another foul on Cancelo. There are many things that don’t add up.”

Moratti was asked if this was part of an on-going thread of Inter protests from the Mark Iuliano challenge on Ronaldo in 1998, which later became an emblem of the Calciopoli scandal that saw two Juve titles revoked in 2006.

“I wouldn’t compare that with what happened on Saturday. I can say that I saw the footage again recently from 1998 and I still don’t understand how Ceccarini could say it was Ronaldo’s foul.”
