People went on and on about how the players we brought in offered more movement and pace, but where the hell was that today? I didn't see it. Looks like one of the matches from last season, except probably worse for the most part.

Mr. Gol said in the match thread that we have a better squad and better manager than last year. The squad is certainly debatable, but the manager isn't. Del Neri isn't any better than Zaccheroni.

Buckle up for a long season. And yes, it can get worse than last season.

It's still a mistery to me how his 4th place Samp-wonder still got him here.
At the same time, Benitez wouldn't be any better than Del Neri in Juve.

Its going to take time for us to gel as a unit. New manager & basically 1/2 a new team, we wont be world beaters overnight. We began last season on fire & look how that turned out? We will be alright give it time.

It will get worse. Like CAPITANO said, you dont sell players if you cant replace him with a better one, and that didn't happen. I expect us to panic on the transfer market and will kill this team even more. Its really gonna be a long season!

Storari - 5.5-6 - can't be faulted for the goal, pulled a fantastic save, other than that, didn't have much to do, as Bari can't get much on target (thank God, too, as we woulda been even more embarrassed)
Motta - 5.5-6 - looked good going forward, crosses weren't that great, though, made some decent tackles
De Ceglie - 3.5-4.5 - going to need one of those inflated cushions after the raping he got today, possible bump in score for a crucial intervention
Chiellini - 6 - many great interventions, can't really fault him too much for all Bari's forward plays as the defense on a whole looked disorganized, particularly the left flank (Bari having free reign in the center didn't help at all), shame he missed a free header
Bonucci - 6 - same as Chiellini, solid, made some good interventions, suffered from being exposed by our feeble midfield and even worse left flank
Marchisio - 4 - mr. anonymous, only showed himself with a defensive lapse that cost us Bari's goal, and subsequent yellow card. his non-presence made Almiron look world class and allowed Bari to dominate the pitch. shocker from him.
Melo - 6 - had a good game, some nice passes, nice energy, nice tackles, the real standout in terms of desire in an otherwise lifeless team. inexplicably subbed. did Moratti promise Del Nei a blowjob?
Krasic - 5 - didn't do too much, what he tried didn't come off as he'd have liked, acceptable in that he's adjusting to a new league, thrown into the deep end with a brand new squad, as well
Pepe - 4.5 - I defend this guy a lot, but he just didn't look up for this level today
Del Piero - 4.5 - poor by his standards. tried to get fancy a few times, but couldn't keep up. with Diego shown the door, he got his coveted starting team place back...if this is what he's going to do with it on a regular basis...not optimistic.
Quagliarella - 4.5-5 - allowance for adjustment, made a few funny penalty claims, one missed chance he could have done better with, recurring theme, though, "anonymous" for much. i'll get some flak on this, but we missed Amauri badly. say what you will, but he's a "presence", dragging defenders around, getting into good positions, just getting involved. can't say the same for Quagliarella, at least not today.

SUBS

Sissoko - 5 - added nothing, didn't help us wrest back the midfield from Bari, of all teams
Martinez - N/A - injured before he could offer something to judge
Lanzafame - 5 - very unremarkable

we looked really tired, we had some good intensity for 15 mins then just dropped off.
There's a lot of work to do. I was worried about this game beforehand because of all the new aspects of the team, I'm surprised Krasic started and it clearly backfired, but hey, people wanted him in so they can't complain now. This team will take months to gel on this evidence, I just hope we can get a fair amount of points from the tough early run of games so we aren't in a horrible position. And then the pressure on Delneri gets intense, and then we start all over again. From scratch.

Poor performance started well and looked the same disjointed self when chasing the game.

Bringing on Sissoko didn't work-I see what he was trying to do to cover their counter attacks, but Melo was one of our better players and Sissoko adds nothing when we need a goal.

Having said that the sacking talk is laughable.

Del Neri sacking talk already, so predictable. Yes folks, after one game, and we wonder why we are the new Inter.
We've been the new Inter for years now. DN had his chance at other clubs in which he has proven that he stinks. He should have never been given the job in the first place, so if he gets fired now, who cares. We need someone better regardless of time frame.

if people are actually saying we dont need time to gel, they truly have no idea about football at all.
Why didn't you say this when we beat those clubs in the EL qualifiers?

Will you be making this same excuse in October?

Sure, we need time to gel, but a loss against Bari is not acceptable. We need to stop finding excuses for mediocrity.

We are a mid-table club until further notice. Don't ever forget that.

We pretty much lived up to expectations today, IMO, regardless of the hype that Football Italia puts behind us. We don't deserve sh*t yet, as we've proven nothing.

This will be another season to test the fans. Suffering is often necessary to appreciate real achievement and not have it handed to you on a platter like a Chelsea fan.

True that.
