Del Neri Out To Snap Juve Hoodoo
Atalanta boss Luigi Del Neri has admitted that his personal record in crunch matches against Juventus is far from flattering, but is confident that he is overdue a result against the Bianconeri.
The Bergamo side will be taking on Juve with their Serie A futures assured, which the ex Chievo coach believes could prove instrumental.
“Usually when my teams are out to avoid relegation, I pick up zero points against Juventus. Now, seeing as there is mathematically no chance of the drop, I hope to end this taboo.”
“Juve are going through a great period of form, so we must be more careful than ever in every minutes of the match, then try to surprise them on the break.”
The fact that Cristiano Doni is still banned means that Michele Paolucci will be partnering Sergio Floccari upfront.
“This is his opportunity. I have faith in Paolucci and hope we can once again admire the player who did so well at Ascoli,” Del Neri added, before suggesting that promising youngster Michele Marconi is in line for his big league debut.
“He was very close to playing in Naples, but I think it will be easier for him to taste Serie A for the first time in front of his own fans.”
A win for Juve will almost certainly assure them a spot in the Champions League next season, as their 3-0 victory in their rescheduled clash against Parma on Wednesday, moved them five points clear of Fiorentina and 12 points clear of fifth-placed AC Milan.
