I'll be very surprised if Lichtsteiner starts at RCB in a back-3.

He isn't used to playing there. He has the characteristics to adapt to that position with a little practice, but it'd be odd to throw him there in such a big game for the first time from the start.

If we play a 352, Rugani makes more sense than Steiner at CB.

But I really like that 442 by GdS. It's perfect except I'd start Alex Sandro over Evra. A B2B with defensive attributes like Sturaro is needed vs Hamsik. And a Cuad-Stu-March-Pogba midfield would still be dynamically similar to our usual CM setup with Pogba cutting in as a mezzala when we have the ball, Marchisio holding/quarterbacking, and a B2B at RCM. I don't think that's too big a change. A Cuad-March-Pogba-AS midfield on the other hand would be dynamically very different in the center.

Orsato's record vs us: 9 W, 10 D, 5 L

What's Rizzoli's record?
I actually think Lichtsteiner is very capable in that slot, he's played there a number of times over the years -- and he generally has a great understanding with his teammates, so the communication will be there. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Rugani in the lineup, but I'm not sure Max has that type of confidence in the player right now. I guess we'll see. Speaking of kind of throwing players into big games, though... that potentially works a bit both ways because he hasn't had the continuity; hopefully if he does play, Rugani will rise to the occasion.

What makes the 4-4-2 with Alex Sandro at LM such an interesting prospect for me would be seeing him play with fewer defensive responsibilities, an even more attacking emphasis. He's a beast going forward, I think he could pin that side down, really press them. Would obviously never experiment with it in a game of this magnitude, though.

Highly doubt we'll play a 4-4-2, but you're right, it would be nice to have a bit more of a physical presence in the middle of the pitch.

Usually i'd be like "no Klin, its a tough game, need to respect opponent, win is great but draw isnt bad either cause they'll drop points when higuain loses form or gets rekt, just dont lose, etc"

$#@! that $#@!. I want to see them $#@!ing burn. get humiliated so they can shut the hell up and go play victim someplace else

also

Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Barzagli ; Cuadrado, Sturaro, Marchisio, Pogba, Evra ; Dybala, Morata

Only point of debate is wether we start Evra or Alex Sandro
Exactly,every word.

So Khedira definitely cannot return for this match?

Look at the press conference live tweets of the Juventus channel. Khedira has to be evaluated, Mandžukić and Chiellini out, Pereyra does not have 90 minutes in his legs yet.
I do that. Also now there is some other sources. Will be happy if he plays but I am nearly sure that ,having in mind his previous injury history Allegri won't risk him.Or at least not for 90 minutes if he includes at starting 11.

You make some good points, but Licht only played as a CB 2-3 times later in the 2nd half when the games were secured. It's a secondary position for him (that too barely), and one where he has had very little experience in. Throwing him there all of a sudden vs Insigne and Napoli isn't a good idea and won't happen IMO.

Starting him there wouldn't make sense even vs Bologna IMO. At best, Licht at CB can be experimented for 20 odd minutes in the 2nd half vs Bologna if we're winning that game and have everything under control. Against Napoli, the closest he'll come to playing as a CB will be if he stays back in a Zona Mista formation when we have the ball with Evra playing the WB role on the other side, but it'll be a 442 shape defensively.

On paper, a midfield of Cuadrado-Marchisio-Pogba-A.Sandro sounds great, but it's a completely different system to what we've been playing for years. 352, 4312, 433, and Zona Mista have all feature a 3-CM combo with one regista, one B2B, and one mezzala. Gazzetta's 442 actually has that same CM combo. Pogba is only a winger on paper. He'll play the same mezzala role. Going from a 3-CM system that we've been using for years to a 2-CM one would require a lot of training time to perfect, and changing that system for only one or two games is impractical.

442 will be the defensive shape, and we used the same shape with Pogba at LM in some games in 1st half of the season. When we have the ball, the shape will be either Zona Mista or 433. Pogba will play his usual attacking CM role and move inward and up. Evra will be the player responsible for providing width on the left (Alex Sandro instead would be perfect for that LWB role). Morata and Pogba will help him and show at the flank at times (Pogba already does that). Licht will stay back or play his usual FB role depending on whether it's Zona Mista or 433 when we have the ball.

One drawback of the system is there won't be a lot of width on the left, esp. if Evra starts at LB. With Alex Sandro, it wouldn't be much of a problem. One big advantage with the system is Cuadrado and Lichtsteiner can double up on Napoli's left flank, which is very dangerous.

Sarri's Press conference:

“I haven’t seen any particular tension,” Sarri insisted in his pre-match Press conference.

“I’ve seen the usual intensity from the team. I think the approach to the game is normal, it’s stimulating but we have to approach it with clarity.

“It’s a normal day before a big game, there are are still three months to go until the end of the season.”

The Coach was then asked what it will take to win tomorrow’s showdown.

“A solid defence is a good place to start. Juventus have had that for years, it’s a habit, we’re trying to build certainty in defence.

“They have historic strength.

Will Juventus switch to a back-four? I don’t think a lot about changes, even with a back-three the wing-back comes back and defend as a four, so I don’t think it’ll change much.”

“We’ll play our football,” Sarri promised in his pre-match Press conference.

“Experience tells us that when we stop playing [our way] we become vulnerable, so our only chance to get something from such a tremendous stadium and an opponent like Juventus is by playing our football.

“Maybe we won’t succeed, maybe we’ll be camped in our own area for 70 minutes, but it won’t be by choice. Even if it’s for 30 seconds we’ll play our football.

“Our lads shouldn’t be tense, they should just think about the performance and then accept the result.

“We have no final objectives, there’s just tomorrow’s game. The game gives us confidence, because we’re on par with Juventus, the team that has dominated Italian football in recent years, so that’s already a source of pride.

“We’re not satisfied, but we’re mad enough to go to Turin and impose our game on them. They’re more used to playing these kind of games than we are, but we do have four or five who can help out the younger players.

“When there are two solid defences, it’s down to individuals to decide the game. They have a lot of individuals who can decide a game, but we’re not bad in that regard ourselves.”

A win would see the Partenopei go five points clear at the top of Serie A, but Sarri denied it's the biggest game of his career.

“These are questions that are put to those who come from the bottom, I don’t feel anything, I’m just thinking about the game.

“I don’t think tomorrow’s game is the most important, without the 500 preceding it I wouldn’t be here.

“You in the media determine the importance, for me Sangiovannese-Grosseto was also important to determine [Serie] C2.”

Napoli fans will not be allowed to travel to Turin, and the Coach believes the decision is unfair.

“[A win] would be for our fans, we hold them dear and we’re disappointed that they won’t be in Turin,” Sarri lamented.

“I think it’s an injustice, collective punishment doesn’t make sense, and I thought the same when Juventus weren’t allowed to come here - I said that publicly.

“I don’t believe in these decisions, and we’ll try to bring satisfaction to our fans. But that’s all it would mean, as there will still be 13 games to go.”

“Is it more my Napoli or Allegri’s Juventus?” Sarri considered in his own Press conference.

“There will always be some [Antonio] Conte in Juve and some [Rafa] Benitez in Napoli. Something will remain after years of work.

“Allegri has done an outstanding job, it could have been hard after Conte - maybe there’s more to him than is said.”

A draw would see the Partenopei retain their two-point lead at the top of Serie A, would Sarri settle for a share of the spoils?

“I never settle for anything. For our fans this isn’t a normal game, so we’ll be playing for the city which drives us on too.

“Then there are the difficulties of the game, but if we play with heart and pride we’ll accept the result.

“Could Juventus’ experience be the deciding factor? Experience can have an effect, but there are other factors. If experience was all that mattered Gigi Riva would still be playing.”

The Coach was then asked about the form of Juan Cuadrado, and whether they could be out-muscled by the Old Lady.

“Should we be careful on the wings because of Cuadrado?” Sarri pondered.

“The analysis points to that, it’ll be tough for us from that point of view, but don’t forget we have [Lorenzo] Insigne and [Jose] Callejon who can be decisive, so we’re not bad in that area ourselves.

“That said, for their style of play width is more important than it is for us. If we cover their width with our wide-attackers we’ll end up with six at the back, so we’ll have to take some risks.

“The physical contest? We concentrate more on the ball, not on physical battles, while they’re more willing to go for a physical confrontation because they have great athleticism.

“There are different ways to play, and tomorrow we’ll have to concentrate on speed rather than physicality.

“Who would I take away from Juve? No-one, they’re phenomenons. [Gigi] Buffon has made history, [Claudio] Marchisio is extraordinary and [Paulo] Dybala has a great future ahead of him.”

Finally, Sarri was asked about the referee, with Daniele Orsato replacing the injured Nicola Rizzoli.

“We’re talking about top referees. I’ve had some words with Orsato, but he’s remarkable, great.

“I’ve never had problems with referees, but I’ll often ask for their opinion of an incident and then give mine.”
