I wonder how they calculate a wrongful offside that takes 2 points from us. It's probably recorded as a non action ffs.

I like xG as a metric and it makes sense if you take into account its shortcomings. Imo its the single best data point to compare goalies over a season or to see which attackers are most effective from which positions etc.

But calculating xPoints from xG is just a step too far, too many assumptions for it to be useful.

Exactly my issue with this.

Leaves far too much up to the refs. They already have too much power and we've seen how something as simple as VAR has been gross in its implementation. Now add this and it just seems rife for mistakes, issues, and we're talking players running for an additional 12-18 minutes per match. Definitely makes subs more valuable if you have depth as a club.

And I'm friendly to the idea that this should mean players flop and flail around less but that isn't going anywhere until yellow cards are given out with impunity. Just like how approaching and speaking to the ref was supposed to be stopped with yellows and yet it is very rarely enforced.
