This implies that all things are equal to the prior season EXCEPT for the addition of Dybala though. They've gotten rid of their top 3 assist providers and 3rd, 6th, and 8th highest goal scorers over the past season and a half in Veretout (4g10a), Zaniolo (8g9a), and Mkhitaryan (5g9a) to replace them with...seemingly only Dybala. Under these circumstances it sounds like he is, once again, is being expected to both create and score. They dismantled their squad over the summer and signed a bunch of free players (sounds familiar...)
Dybala is the one dominating the ball in that side. They play through him on most attacks. His stats are fine in a vacuum, but aren’t good enough if he is their main man in attack in terms of creating.
Tammy Abraham has 7 goals - 5 assists this year in 2/3 of a season. He had 27 goals - 5 assists last year.
Zaniolo had 2 goals - 3 assists this year in half a season. He had 8 goals - 9 assists last year.
Pellegrini has 5 goals - 8 assists this year in 2/3 of a season. He had 14 goals - 8 assists last year.
So bringing in Dybala, if we expand those guys out to a full season projected goals, they will have dropped from 49 goals down to 23 goals scored. And you’re saying this has nothing to do with Dybala and the fact he isn’t creating enough for his fellow attackers (something we had issues with here as well with him). C’mon.
