I agree, but we have been less inconsistent than our competition in the last 25 games or so. And even with that horror start, a win against Inter would have put us -1 from them, and then I would have loved to see the race with them until the end.

Either way, we can just have regrets at this point.

Traore is being deployed on the wing, scoring goals and providing assists. It's true that he can be utilized as a CM (his original position), but it seems he's actually better on the flanks. He's exactly the type of player we need - he possesses pace, is direct, can score and provide assists.

It was the match against Inter. Losing points against outsiders happens from time to time. Everyone loses points against these teams. We fucked up against the top 3, where we didn't win even one of the 6 matches.
Despite that, we would have been seriously in the scudetto race had we won against Inter last Sunday (Milan 68, Napoli 66, Juve 65, Inter 63 and a match less than the others).

No Italy at the WC, no Italians in the CL now, us not making the quarters in CL for a few seasons, it's indicative of where Italian football is on the world stage.

England lack the finesse and top level talent to win a major tournament but the PL has been developing a lot. Even if you take out the foreign superstars, the core English players have understood that fitness, pace, power and pressure are key and the next generation are pretty decent.

England never lose to second tier teams and trash minnows, Italy don't. Italian football failings can't be masked by Juventus buying top talent, this was inevitable and on the CL stage, it's clear that Spanish and even Portuguese ligas are progressing rapidly. Ciro Immobile is the best example of this, a boss for Lazio but hopeless internationally.
