dunno whether it was discussed already. there were some articles in different italian newspapers about the possible exclusion of salernitana from serie a already in the last couple of weeks, and now fi covered the story too. lotito owns both them and lazio, and it's obviously against the rules, so unless they find a new owner before the end of the month they are about to be excluded from serie a. not that it would make any difference from our point of view. verona, genoa, venezia and cagliari would benefit from it a bit, as they lost points against salernitana.

Imagine such a clown league admitting a team when knowing those facts and then excluding them half way through the season.

Chimpanzees would do a better job.

haha, good one. first figc rejected lotito's proposal to sell the team to a blind trust:
https://www.ansa.it/sito/notizie/sp...ito_579fd7bf-24d8-495a-a840-1112307d9a5a.html
https://www.forbes.com/sites/giacom...igc-rejected-blind-trust-to-sell-salernitana/
lotito and his family picked the buyer, so odds are the buyers weren't independent lol

then just a couple of weeks later (29.06. rejection, 07.07. approval) figc still accepted lotito's somehow modified proposal:
https://www.ilpost.it/2021/07/07/salernitana-serie-a-trust-lotito/

(here's a long ass article explaining the situation in depth for those interested: https://www.rivistacontrasti.it/lot...iscrizione-serie-a-figc-multiproprieta-lazio/ )

so fuck knows how and why they let salernitana start the season :boh: anyway, ridiculous and typical italian story indeed. must be a bummer for salernitana fans.

And they found out about that now?

Now that Atalanta are in the Europa League, I don't think they will challenge for the Serie A title. Thursday nights + a Ro32 should be a bit too much to sustain a league push. Maybe it they drop out of Europa early then they can...

But I certainly hope that they do win both the Europa and Serie A (if we don't ofc). Would be a historic accomplishment if they manage to pull it off.
