ADL: 'Napoli not Catenaccio...'

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis praised Coach Maurizio Sarri for not resorting to “Catenaccio tactics” against Juventus.

The Partenopei won 3-2 on the night, but went out of the Coppa Italia semi-final 5-4 on aggregate.

“I expected Napoli to play better than Juventus, which already happened on Sunday,” De Laurentiis told Rai Sport.

He was referring to a 1-1 Serie A draw at the Stadio San Paolo at the weekend.

The President then aimed a sideswipe at Juventus boss Max Allegri.

“You could sense our superiority on the field throughout. This team has heart and a Coach who is not stuck in Catenaccio tactics, but instead is a gentleman of football.”

De Laurentiis also posted this message on Twitter after the game.

We are good, but we can be even better. Serie A is not a true benchmark, and I am frankly mortified by the lack of concern some are showing. We aren't playing great football, scraping by in recent games, and will need to drastically improve if we want to negotiate the Shitcunts from Catalunya. They are a formidable obstacle. I also want to see players play in their natural positions more often, so we can get the best out of them. Dybala is under-performing, and that is a cause for concern, considering he is arguably our most important player.

Of course not. You want to gift them 70% possession. We need to play a balanced game. Sure, they can have the lion's share of possession, but we shouldn't sit back and invite them. We saw how well that worked against Napoli in the last two games. At home, we need a cautious approach, but we must also dare to take risks; otherwise, the tie is over even before we board that plane to Spain.
