There must be something wrong with the rumors and some of them are completely invented imo. I'm saying this because looking at the player we got (Pirlo), players we have the right to buy (Quag, Aqui, Matri, Pepe) and players we're linked to (Aguero, Inler), I have absolutely no idea what are we going to play next year.
Pirlo isn't suited for 4-4-2 so I'm guessing a 4-3-3, 4-3-1-2 or something. But if we buy Aguero then will he play on the left side of a 4-3-3? 4-3-1-2 on the other hand leaves Krasic out of the squad and we'll need to buy an AMC.....
Way too confusing at this point.
When they asked Marotta if we'll buy a great STRIKER he said we'll buy a quality player(s) that are on a Aguero's level. That somehow showed me that we're not into buying strikers this summer and it's why I have no high hopes for Aguero, Tevez or anyone. Did we show interest for Aguero recently? We sure did, but that doesn't have to mean anything as it was probably Marotta saying "Hey, I will give you 15mln for Aguero". In the end, we'll end up disappointed because Marotta will say "We tried, but the asking price was way out of our reach". Sounds familiar, aye, it happened with Dzeko last summer. We'll probably buy a striker, but I'm pretty sure it will be only Matri. And boy, and hope as hell that I'm wrong on this one.

Conte said he'll play with 2 central midfielders and I think he'll do that. Pirlo is weak for that crap, but I still believe we'll play like that. For some odd reason, I don't see Inler joining us, or if he does it just means we'll sell Melo. If we don't get good offers for Melo I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing Melo - Pirlo partnership next season, with Marchisio having a rotation role with Andrea while we'd use Sissoko to get Melo's spot from time to time. So by saying that, I see us playing 4-4-2 next season, we're just planning to sign a left winger IMO.

Ujfalusi: Aguero is going to Real
More or less confirms it, what i thought. As a player Ujfalusi has nothing to gain. Even less to gain when you consider he plays for Athletico, why would say such a thing if he wasn't 100% in the know? he wouldn't. Aguero is a R.madrid player - close this thread.

But will we buy Quag, Pepe, Aqui....?

Anyway, Atletico confirmed that we're trying to sign Aguero, so now it's clear that it's not just a rumor. Trying to sign and really signing him are two different things, so I guess Marotta has plan B. If we buy Aguero, one of Matri/Quag won't be bought. If we don't sign him then we go with plan B.
Assuming we get Aguero
I don't think we need all three. If you play 4-3-3 then Aguero is the lone striker, with Krasic and a LW around him. That winger can't be Pepe, since he is not capable of taking such role high up field due to technical disability. In a 4-4-2, Aguero would be used as a trequartista, pairing with a striker of Matri or Iaquinta's abilities, that can run well of the ball.
Pirlo and Aqua have similar characteristics, it wouldn't make sense to get him, and we don't have the luxury to spend ~15 millions on a back up

Ujfalusi said Aguero WANTS to join Real Madrid, not that he already signed with them. Luis Suarez wanted to join Barca or Real, but he ended up in Liverpool.

We can't keep spending 10-15 millions on average players expecting them to lift the club up. We need at least 2 world class players, game changers that are capable of delivering consistently.
Those players cost big bucks for a reason. Give A. Madrid the money and let's move on Marotta. The RB should involve a player + cash, most likely Amauri +cash for Cassani or Storari +cash for Licht. If Inler comes in, either Sissoko or Melo would be sold, which should cover some or all of the fees.
Good post.

We need a player in this ranks that can change the game in a moment of brilliance. We have desperately needed a striker of this level for over 2 years and we have paid for it dearly IMO.
Why don't we spend a huge amount on the defense then? We won't. Buying Aguero will not solve our problems, it will only make it worse. Andy will then hail Marotta as the new Obama, trying to cover the real problems with candy :D
Why would you spend that much on the defense? We don't need a revolution at the back. We need one good RB and that shouldn't be expensive at all. You can't build some superstar defense and expect to win when you have IQ, Toni, AMauri, Matri, Quag, and DP for strikers...it just won't work dude. You guys can kick and scream all you want but unless we have a capable offense/midfield our defenders no matter how good they are will always be under pressure.

We need to make this team exciting again. We need a player with a talent so unreal that it draws people back to watch this miserable club. Defenders won't do that.
I'd give him the number 10 also. Kick that old man into the stands next season.
Then I guess Marotta is trying to go Milan's road and invest all the fortune in attack. Aguero, Matri and Quag will cost us 70m eur. That will leave us with free transfers and swap deals for the other positions.
Players like Kun, Pirlo, Inler and Seba (if we bring him back) will drastically increase our technical level. On the other hand the defense will remain our Achilles' heel.
Bah, we can't become great from bad over night, I guess.
Well, if you build a superstar defense then another part of our team will be the Achilles heel. We won't make 3rd with the offense we have no, no way in hell will we come close. It's no coincidence that our defense and midfielders outscore most of our strikers anyways...how many times do you see them having to bail our offense out in games?
Ziegler is going to be the starter, I don't see Marotta forking out ~20 millions for the likes of Cissokho. Bonucci and Chiellini pairing isn't going to get altered, and with the addition of proper backs they should get better since they don't have to worry much about the incompetence of the backs (fingers crossed that Ziegler become better over the summer some how).
That leaves only one position to upgrade, RB, and none of the guys we are linked with is worth over 15 millions. We need a game changer, somebody like Aguero or Sanchez.
P.S Obama is a fraud :p
Another damn good post.

A big part of why our defense failed so miserably this year was because we couldn't keep possession and we were mentally weak...both of those put tremendous pressure on our team. It's no coincidence that weaker teams had better defensive stats than we did this year. You all have your damn scapegoats between bonucci, fullbacks, and buffon...its fucking ridiculous.

There are much more important core problems with this team than it's full backs so until you guys answer those we will always leak goals.

I don't think one top signing where we spend a shitload of cash will affect our targets for the backline. I think that in Marotta's eyes we only need a RB, which will be a relatively cheap player like Lichtsteiner, for whom we'll probably use some deadwood or youngster to get.

:agree:
According to reports it is going to be Licht for Amauri/Storari/Motta +cash or Cassani for Amauri + cash

And problem finally solved...newer more talented and more mobile full backs. Not world class, but will get the job done and not make bonehead mistakes.

That leaves money to spend on 2 fantastic players.

Absolutely! Licht or Cassani are Ballon d'Or candidate when compared to Motta. They are not world beaters, but we should be set on defence. Since we were promised big signings, I expect those to be for LW and attack
