I'll stand by that part.

I don't think Juve should be breaking the bank to get this guy. He may be worth having, but not at any price and he will cost a lot if Chelsea are interested.
Looks like Chelsea are indeed interested. I read some Serbian sites and they say how Grant went to watch him in Moscow against Tomsk and how he was delighted with what he's seen. According to this, he told Roman to prepare the cash.
This is the second time i've been searching info about him and for the second time i've noticed how important figures from the world of football are praising him. Hiddink and Javier Clemente are both delighted with his capabilities.
I guess what you've seen was an off match.
He still scored a goal :)

Chelsea, Juve, Milan and Inter are the teams rumored to be after him in January.
We shouldn't worry about Milan and Inter because they can't buy another non-EU out of Italy until June.
As you know, Italian teams can register only one non-EU player for the season, bought from a team outside Italy. Milan registered Pato while Inter registered Nelson Rivas.
Only Juve from these 3 teams can buy a non-EU player from a non-Italian team in January.
That leaves Chelsea as our only opponent.

You're sort of side-stepping the issue here and contradicting yourself. You stated that you're basing your opinion on seeing the player once, acknowledging that it's not right to do such a thing, then going on to say that you don't think he's worth much money at all after watching this one match.
I'm saying he may be better than he appeared, but is unlikely to be so much better as to justify Juve spending big to get him.

Anyway that is my opinion, it is based on one game, take it or leave it.

But still, you honestly cannot use one reference as a primary source for such an opinion. The fact is, Ivanovic might have had the worst appearance over the past year when you saw him play, so what basis do you have to go on in regards to anything? I usually respect your opinions, but I cannot help to castigate this one as you clearly have no credibility whatsoever when it comes to Ivanovic.

Feel free to disregard my opinions on him then.

I will be delighted if we sign him and he proves me wrong.

And at least I admit I only saw him once unlike most people in this thread who say we should sign him, even they they hve never watched him.

Last time i checked Serbia was a part of Europe thus making Ivanovic available for Milan and Inter due to coming from a European country or have i missed something???

It is whether the country is part of the European Union, not Europe that counts.

That's acceptable.
What about those who never watched him and say we MUST sign him

I was never a good scout for defenders so i may be wrong about him but he was a rock on that match against Portugal (MOM for sure) he was MOM in that second match where i watched him, even though it was only a friendly match against Milan, and he had Chiellini-like dominant performances for his u21 team this summer.
I can't really count the friendly with Milan and the matches against the youth national teams, so it can be also said that i watched him only once against serious oposition.
From what i've seen, he's good enough now and has everything to become one of the best def. in the world...... but like i said, i was never a good scout for defenders :)

Yes, they are part of Europe but they aren't part of European Union.
EU stands for European Union.
Some European countries (Russia, Ukraine, Croatia, Switzerland, Serbia, Bosnia, Georgia, Turkey, Norway, Belarus and few more) aren't in European Union so players from these countries count as foreigners.

Yes, but Switzerland has some kind of agreement with the EU so their playsers arent counted as foreigners.

Give Juve Red a rest, please. At least he watched the guy. There are many people here who want him based on opinions of some coaches.

now why would chelsea want him when alex is performing in cover of terry, aswell as ben haim and carvalho in the side and if worse comes to the worse ferreira and essien can play in the centre or on the right. they have more than enough depth in defence as to not need ivanovic

At RB they sold Jonson, Diarra and bringed Belletti, who sucked hard. I guess Abramovič is ready to pay for another RB.
