At that height and weight I'd say an additional 5cm and 5 kgs do make a lot of difference. And even if Gio is definitely muscular, Messi's legs are something else.
If Gio was feed HGH while growing up like Messi Gio would be a significantly better player. Not Messi good, but WC. If Messi wasn't feed HGH he wouldn't be anywhere near as good as he is.

It's a shame he wasn't more like his nickname in regards to his strength. It's not just about structure but also upper body strength and balance in contact.
Indeed, look at Insigne, he short as fuck and bit slight, but he is more robust then Gio (mainly lower body, legs/thighs), which gives him much better balance/and ability to shrug off/skip past opponents with more set lower gravity posture, while Gio is more likely to be bullied around like a ragdoll due to lacking upper body strength and overall weaker structure/less compact in stature.
