Giovinco: 'I contributed to goal'

Sebastian Giovinco would like to take at least a bit of credit for the goal that allowed Juventus to beat Shakhtar Donetsk.

At first it had seemed as if the Atomic Ant had bundled Stephan Lichtsteiner’s cross over the line, but it proved to be an own goal off Olexandr Kucher.

“Never mind, the important thing is that we won and qualified – in first place, too. We played a great game and are very happy with this performance,” Giovinco told Mediaset.

“I did get a touch to the ball, but I don’t know if my deflection was decisive or not, as we were very close.

“If I didn’t get in front of him and make it difficult then he probably would’ve been able to clear.”

Juve are seeds in the draw for the last 16, meaning they will face one of these teams: Porto, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Valencia, Celtic and Galatasaray.

“Right now we must focus on Sunday and won’t worry about the draw until it happens.”

lets see what happens when we bring in a real centre forward, if we change our formation or something----

i really liked the 4 33...if we are able to put vuci on one, gio on the other and a super poacher in the middle.. i reallly think we can do something good.

Either that, or played on the wings right from the start.
The problem is that giovinco doesnt offer the final product to justify playing with him on the wing, and we lack the central striker to make up for that.

next 3 serie a games, are relatively weaker opponents.

we could field 4-3-3 with giovinco(right) and vucinic(left) on the flanks, and matri/benny in the middle.
quag is the better then matri and benny, but not as lone striker. and it seems conte doesnt want to play him anyway at the moment

Jesus. The kid is involved in a goal and we win the group. Yet people find something to bitch about.

Bit more than a half chance, but not easy like some made out. He was forced onto his left side, so you are always weaker and have to slide it (easier) or curl on the wrong foot (harder).
I thought Vucinic could have followed through on that run. Would be easier to pass to him.

Can't believe he really tried to pass that goal off as his own. Dude has issues.
Feels the pressure of beeing on a big team

Gets criticised because isnt decisive.

tells the media he would be decisive against inter, fails hard during the game

gets involved in the goal that sealed qualification. yeah, offcourse he was going to do that. he done plenty of that in the past when he was at parma.

what he should do, is score again comming weekend, run to the supporters and point at himself. much better then pesky media comments

Though him and Vuci arent just made to play together. Though I dont mind them continuing together, in the long run the two best attackers we have.
Last night was the first time I wasn't extremely annoyed at the Vuci-Gio combo. Hell, I thought they did remarkably well.

 I can't believe Gio is getting so much flack, he's one of our better players at the moment!
So, just a regular day here on 'tuz is what you're both saying? :D
