Just needs to drift wide more.

No point in him staying in the small spaces in the middle where it is easy for defenders to bully him.

Would be interested to hear whether he played as Conte/Carrera wanted in terms of positioning.

I say this as a Gio fan, and it's really unfortunate but his physicality is going to eb a huge problem in the CL where teams are bigger, faster and a lot more physical than he's gotten used to with the pace in the league. That's probably the one thing that stopped his game from flowing. Can't really fault him for his game per se, as he was just not big enough to be on the pitch tonight, and that's really unfortunate. The minute you negate his speed, which most continental opposition will do, he loses a lot of his ammo.

him being outmuscled is not the problem, he cant help that.

its the showboat 1 touch bullshit he tries to keep doing is what pisses me off about him.

I don't think it's a matter of athleticism or skills. It's a mental problem. He is insecure, gets nervous and then chokes big time.

But he has talent, and honestly, Juventus doesn't have many options other than gambling on him.

He isn't protected by the ref like the Barca players.
that might be true, but the ref today is the best i have ever seen, and not the reason for gio playing extremly badly.

i think gio is well on his way to prove once and for all that he doesnt suit juventus or any big teams for that matter. he needs space bc he is just too small, and that he wont see much of at juve.

He got bullied in the middle by a physical Chelsea team. Once we stretched Chelsea's D, he got a bit better cutting in and out from the flanks. There are still plenty of room for improvements.

am sorry to all of my friends here in this page but.. all of you making circles around the wrong center. i mean it's not his skills or talent or temper or any thing of this. it's about his position and the way he receives the ball, and this a tactical problem not players problem. i mean compare the same fuckin' player when he was here couple of years ago when played against the better chelsea and he was younger of course. he did brilliant cause he had Freedom i remember he forced Drogba for a yellow in our half once he came on.. the player we are talkin' about now plays in a different role which is the main...

so apparantley one game where for gio against the team that managed to keep the likes of messi, iniesta, robben, ribery, in control, and suddenly it's like we are talking about amauri

whatever happened to having faith and being patient?

he will do good, but it's silly to expect him to have great perfrmances all the time, especially considering he is still gelling in the team

Oh Fuck off with he isn't ready for a big team. Based on one hard Champions league game.
time will tell, but as of now vuci is clearly a much better player than gio. come january we might get a better partner for vuci, and gio will go back to playing second fiddle at juve.

it is not based on one game, but hes characteristics as a player. he needs space and suits a counterattacking team, and/or mid table team better bc there is more space when two teams try to attack and the strenght of the teams are balanced. when other teams play juve its often parking the bus=little space and thats the case when big teams plays smaller teams.

He has a lot of haters in this forum and peeps who want to see him sold.

Give him a season then judge. Not a couple games.

It's so obvious that it makes you wonder why he is even playing as a CF. Towards the end of the game we saw the only two times when he went out to the left flank and both times he got into position to put in a good cross or shot (Cole headed the cross, the shot was poor). Why he is battling big central defenders is a mystery, he needs to drop off and wide. It's why he could never be a real trequartista, and why the 4-3-3 really suits him best.
