It is very similar to baseball and teams that have all of these great prospects in their farm system.
Sometimes you keep them to play on your team, but more often than not you package them in a trade to get an established star

Exhibit A
Ok more fool Inter for going with that deal. He looked a very good goalie, remember the Arsenal CL game? Well he isn't going to play with Buffon in goal so he has to move on. Inter ended up ruining him, nothing new there.
Well we might have to do the same with Giovinco one day, as much as I want him to do well there is something not quite right about him. I think he has to play in 4-3-3, didn't Empoli play this system with Vannucchi and Pozzi with him? Also with the Azzurrini, it suits his characteristics.
Someone else said in the thread how size doesn't define his position, well that is true but characteristics do, not only is he small but he is not strong either, nor can he tackle or head, so he isn't going to play central midfield, striker or in defence. There are small players who are hard to knock off the ball, Seba is not going to put on more size like Criscito has so he has to play in an area of the pitch where he can use his qualities better.
