Well we might have to do the same with Giovinco one day, as much as I want him to do well there is something not quite right about him. I think he has to play in 4-3-3, didn't Empoli play this system with Vannucchi and Pozzi with him? Also with the Azzurrini, it suits his characteristics.

Someone else said in the thread how size doesn't define his position, well that is true but characteristics do, not only is he small but he is not strong either, nor can he tackle or head, so he isn't going to play central midfield, striker or in defence. There are small players who are hard to knock off the ball, Seba is not going to put on more size like Criscito has so he has to play in an area of the pitch where he can use his qualities better.

Barcelona, Lyon, Ajax...

Barcelona, ok, although all but Messi are either bit-part players or came through a decade ago. Or they get poached at a young age. Their current young players face the same problems with ousting established stars as ours do. Should they also pack up their youth system?

Ajax haven't been at the level of Juventus since 1996, great club though.

I also wouldn't put Lyon at the same level as Juventus, but that is debatable in the technical sense. They have brought through Clerc, Govou and Benzema of note.

If putting Giovinco on the market means we are able to strengthen our starting 11 and/or sign a player we can put to better use, than yes I would consider a trade. However, such a decision can't be made until we give him enough playing time to decide whether he is able to consistently perform at the top level, which hasn't happened yet.

I'm not sure if Cassano is a player I would swap for though. He is an amazing talent, but Cassano and Diego? Too many chefs in the kitchen.

del piero is like the emblem on witch is wrote Juventus...and diego was just brought so no sane person will give up those two. These two along buffon are irreplaceable imo ...you cannot find better players than them.

I love that possibility, but I don't think that is a fair comparison.

Cassano is more of a playmaker than Del Piero. Sure, they are both creative and set up chances for others, but Cassano isn't nearly as goal hungry inside the box.

I'm obviously getting picky here, as I certainly would not get angry if we signed Cassano. As a hypothetical arguement on who I would want to swap for Giovinco and pair with Diego and another striker, I would rather have more of a goal scoring support striker than Cassano.

Ok, lets imagine Gio leaves and Cassano does come. What kind of formation are people looking into then?

We have to realize that Cassano isnt a player who will score you 20+ goals per season. He can add positives in quality, his also been one of the leagues top assist makers since his Samp days. So he will add creativity. But we already have Diego for creativity.

Trez will leave (or even if not, his best days looks as if over , Amauri doesnt seem to score many goals since coming here, DP will be a year older, cant see Iaquinta score every season 15-20+ goals.

Add to that we might be risking a DP vs Cassano battle. I can clearly see some problems around this. There is also question marks of Cassano behavior. Maybe he has matured since his Samp career, but Samp is a ant compared to Juve, maybe he enjoys the one man star attention what he gets there, his used to with it, here he will be one of many.

Secondly, with all the respect, i think Ciro is hardly the man who could turn things around if they turn ugly with Cassano, he just lacks the experience for it.

I would have taken Cassano earlier, back when he was bound to leave Roma, because he was young and could be learned and developed in to our style. Now i dont think he is the priority, especially if i look to next season. DP will be another year older, and most likely we need to find a replacement for Trez, or even if he stays we should look for a striker who we can count on scoring regularly 15-20 goals.

And if now someone says, hey Cassano is the DP replacement, well i am sorry but i just cant see this end well with fans. Even if he has the talent and all. There is always the question of icon and loyalty. When it comes to class, what is Cassano compared to DP? So in that sence Giovinco is more likely candidate to succeed DP. But he (Gio) needs to do a lot of work and play regularly to become that.

why do people think that Cassano cannot be a goalscorer for us? he has the right technical tools and more than enough ability to be a regular scorer...the problem is that he has to come a lot deeper when he plays for Samp, as he is the heartbeat of the team...if you can link up Diego with Antonio, and allow him to get in more threatening positions, I have absolutely no doubt that Cass will start scoring regularly for us

I'm ok with selling him if his situation doesn't improve. There is one thing I don't want: Trade him for Cassano. Cassano is super talented and he's a great player but I don't want him here. We don't need him.

In this moment Giovinco isn't as good as Cassano. But Cassano is Cassano and Giovinco is Giovinco and I don't think you can compare these two.
I thought this would become Giovincos year/season. Nedved retires and he will get his real chance, playing regulary and showing his talent he already proved in the games against Bate, Lecce, Catania, Bolognia or Chelsea. But now with Diego I don't see his place in the team. We don't need him. He's way to talented for using him as a sub. He needs a team builded around him, players he can interact with and a big bodyguard behind him. I loved it when he and Del Piero played together. Like against Catania and Bolognia. They were great together. They have the same vision and language and can do great things together. Maybe it's the same with Diego. But I don't know in what formation we can use Diego an Giovinco together.
I want to see Diego and Giovinco together. They will be great. And if not sell him to Germany, it's less physical here and if Marin can make it Giovinco can make it twice.

Giovinco hasn't really taken these chances, nor has he strenghtened his weaknesses and someone as weak as him will never suceed in a league as physical as this, it's not really the mark of a great player if you don't seem to be improving in any areas. For that reason if an oppertunity arrose to trade giovinco with cassano I would be all for it.

Giovinco developed his 'star' qualities earlier than many others but players his age have matured now too and he still seems special but not quite spetacular or a world beater. Please look at his recent U21 euros to see what I mean.

Yea Cassano my ass!!! he is a great player but for teams like Sampdoria not Juve and if he does great here(which i doubt) it will be just 1 or 2 years that's it. he is 28 years old ffs.. please guys look for the future don't look under your feet.
