If we don't have the balls to give a talent of Gio class a chance we better consider to get rid of our youth system for good.
exactly right.. If Giovinco fails to get a look in it begs the question of how useless our youth system is, which Gigli is so big on.. If Seba gets his chance and fails however things may be different but in anycase he should figure prominantly soon enough

We pay Sali at least 40 times what we pay Gio.

Give the kid what he deserve FFS!
I think we will. People have just read too much into the first game of the season, they're forgetting the other 50 games throughout the season but nonetheless it's not entirely impossible that he might be squeezed out

and what does he deserve? till now he hasn't shown anything to Juve, he is a great talent and he deserves more money but he still has it all to prove in a Juve shirt
and what about the coming years, a payrise every year?
next year he wants 2 then 3 and 4 million
fine by me but he will need to deliver accordingly then
don't get me wrong, I love the guy and he surely deserves a pay rise but you guys have to be careful with these comments 'give'm what he wants'
not the way to run a club cuz what will Marchisio say or DeCeglie...
not to mention others
they will work it out but don't get so emotional when it comes to finances, never a good idea

Giovinco's agent isn't that bad infact he's been alright stating numerous times that Seba wants Juve and he's never revealed other negotiations.. once again it's the media blowing up a storm and I'm sure Giovinco will have a new contract soon

That is what negotiations are for, they will reach an agreement.

Of course he has to ask for more money, when he keeps hearing everyday that we're ready to offer Aquilani 3 mill per year, the least thing he can do is ask for one third (where he sure deserves more)

That's highly debatable. First of all, Messi was lucky enough to be in a team like Barca where youth is promoted and encouraged. At Juve, people seem to think that a player isn't ready untill he's 25. It's tradition more than anything else.

What a BS....Messi is lucky that he has that talent. he was better than anyone in barca at age 18. This is the only reason why he turned up into a superstar. And he would turn up as a superstar anywhere in the world if the commanding boss is mentally healthy.

word. some people seem to think players of Messi's calibre can pop up every year as a result of a "encouraging youth"..

Don't get me wrong, Messi is by far the best player in the world in my opinion but the fact that he is in Barcelona helped a lot. Look at their team last year, they have players like Bojan and Dos Santos that were getting first team football all the time. They aren't Messi's but they were lucky enough to have a management that promotes youth so they can make a name for themselves at an early age.

Let me ask you this, when was the last time you heard of an Italian 18 year old world class player? I mean a player that is recognized by the entire world as one of the greatest talents around. Probably never, not because Italy is a nation short of talents but because a player in serie A barely gets his breakthrough unless he has surpassed the age of 23. When was the last time we saw an 18 year old Italian in the national team?

Why weren't players like Giovinco , Montolivo, G.Rossi picked for Euro 2008? Why does Italy always seem to have the oldest squad in the world cups and the Euros?

It's not because of a specific coach or coaching staff, it's because of traditional mentality in Italy where players at the age of 18 or 19 must play for the U 21's and the U 23's before they can actually make it to the first team. Giovinco in my opinion is one of the best talents in the world. I'm not saying this because I'm a Juve fan, I honestly think he has incredible abilities and at the age of 21 he should at least have the chance to play for Italy's first team, let alone Juve's first team.

I still think had Messi been an Italian playing in serie A, he would have made his breakthrough after a much much longer time than an Argentine in Barca.

Actually this is one of the things that i respect in the italian game. They try to protect their youngsters from the sudden fame and thats good for their teams on the long run IMO. The young players have to work pretty hard to earn their spot in the team even if they're really talented.

I think that 21-22 is the right age for players to earn their place in a team. There are exceptions for that specially when the player in exceptionally talented or strong physically (ex. balotelli).......

I disagree. I think the earlier a player gets to play with the first team, the better. He grows in confidence and his club can benefit so much more from him. There's no reason a player as talented as Messi for example should miss out on a world cup and play for the youth team just so he wouldn't get exposed to fame. It doesn't make sense. I don't believe age should ever be a barrier to a player, if a player is good enough, he will play regardless of his birth year.

To me, Italy's attempt at preserving their youth is actually doing more harm than good.

Edit: I also think that players at the age of 18 can add a lot more than veterans or players of th age of 25.
I think Italy would have benefited from Montolivo a lor more than they have from Ambrosini.
