Reports suggest that Barcelona scouts will attend Empoli’s UEFA Cup game with FC Zurich tonight to watch midfield prodigy Sebastian Giovinco.
The Tuscans take a 2-1 lead from the first leg to Switzerland largely courtesy of Giovinco’s magnificent performance in the club’s first ever European test.
The Juventus-owned 20-year-old has also impressed for the Azzurrini and features in Pierluigi Casiraghi’s squad for October 12’s Euro 2009 qualifier against Croatia.
It is also believed that the Spanish guests at the Letzigrund will be keeping a close eye on Under-21 stopper Andrea Raggi who has also excelled so far this term in a miserly defence.
Boss Gigi Cagni is confident of his side’s ability to see off the Swiss champions, but still seems more focused on Serie A.
“Everyone wants to progress in the UEFA Cup and we are going out there to win, but without a doubt we have an eye on our next League games,†he stated in his pre-game Press conference.
“I’ve been able to watch several Zurich games and they are clearly a talented side with power in the air.
"We won’t be thinking about the victory at home, we will just play our football.â€

Empoli's on-loan Juventino Sebastian Giovinco could be en route to the Nou Camp, if the latest rumours eminating from the Spanish press are to be believed...
Juventus-contracted youngster Sebastian Giovinco is allegedly attracting the attention of Barcelona scouts.
The diminutive attacking midfielder is currently on loan at Empoli, who faced Zurich in Switzerland in what turned out to be a failed bid to protect their 2-1 first leg lead.
Capped at each level of the Italian youth system, Giovinco, who can play in midfield or up front, recently made the step up to the U-21s (pictured), with whom he debuted against Albania in the Euro 2008 qualifiers.
While Barcelona already have plenty of young striking talent, the Catalan giants are rumoured to be interested in Giovinco's versatility, and their scouts were present in Zurich to watch him - though he started on the bench.
Whether the scouting turns into a concrete interest remains to be seen.
