One of the bad things about Moggi's era was the habit of sending players out on loan and they come back and be no better off that they were when they left sometimes they managed to be worse off.
Too many players that might have turned out to be very good or even great have been allowed to let their careers just rot by sending them out on loan and destroying their inner belief and confidence.
The last player to have been groomed for greatness and stayed for a period of time is Del Piero and that is 1993 and maybe Tacchinardi but the rest just seem to be mucked about.
Now this board is doing the same thing, I dont know much about Giovinco but he seems to get a lot of good press, so why is he at Empoli when we completely lack pace throughout our side?
Why can't we keep a young promising player for at least 2 years or so and determine if he would be good or not instead of using them like a piece of meat that we bargain with for older and not necessarily better buys

It is strange that Empoli is not starting these guys. Even more strange that anyone would want to send them out of Italy. I thought loaning them was a good idea, but not out of the country. They need Serie A experience. They are better off in Serie B than in Russia.

Italy goalkeeping legend Dino Zoff has lavished praise on Italy Under-21 star Sebastian Giovinco and believes the 20-year-old is a star in the making.

Giovinco’s strongest position is in the hole behind the strikers, a position known in Italy as the ‘trequartista’. But does Zoff think Giovinco’s lack of height will hamper his chances of forging a successful career?
