I've watched some Parma games. Giovinco's style has changed. Now he hardly dribbles and beats the defenders and when he does, he doesn't succeed that much. He has 1.5 successful dribbles and is dispossed 2.6 times per game, with less successful dribbles than Vucinic who has less playing time. And remember 1. Vucinic plays against a wall whilst Giovinco's team has far more free space; 2. In Parma, Biabiany is the one who creates space for his teammates with most dribbles in Serie A (3 per game); 3. Vucinic dribbles forward, sometimes beating several defenders whilst Giovinco of now hardly does this and his dribbling is something similar of that of Pirlo (at least this is what I see when watching Parma).

In Parma what Giovinco does is to attack space and shoot (he can shoot whenever he wants and has far more shooting attemps than anyone in Parma), a role similar to that of Vucinic when he was in Lecce (also in a small team that didn't have to face a wall) and scored 19 goals in a season but Vucinic of that time had greater dribbling who could beat several defenders for a row, something Giovinco of now is not capable of (also something Vucinic of now is less capable of, sadly).

Giovinco has some technique and skills and would bring something to the team if he plays as a sub or accept a turnover role but I'm not sure if he is that good to get a starting spot if our aim is to be better than now. And I'm afraid he wouldn't be contempt to play this kind of role.
well put brujita, not good enough to start for us for sure

If Pepe is good enough to start for this Juve, then Gio certainly is. However, I want a good set of RWF's and LWF's for next season, so Gio can be used in rotation with Vuci, Ramirez, and Pepe (since we will keep him anyway, and he can be useful).

Forza Gio.

Giovinco could be new Zola

Parma’s Italian international Sebastian Giovinco has been compared to the legendary Gianfranco Zola by Roberto Donadoni.

The 25-year-old is carving out a reputation for himself at the Tardini with nine goals in 19 League games so far this season.

Now a regular in the Italian national squad, Parma boss Donadoni expects the pint-sized attacker to go far.

“He’s ready, really ready, for a big club,” the tactician told the Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday. “He reminds me of Zola and I hope that he has the same career as Gianfranco.”

Former West Ham boss Zola first caught the eye at Napoli, before spells at Parma, Chelsea and Cagliari.

Giovinco’s future is unclear given that he is presently co-owned by both Parma and Juventus. He spent last season on loan with the Gialloblu before they bought a 50 per cent share of him for €3.5m.

And here I thought he was too small, or too weak defensively, or just good for a counter attacking teams, or only for small teams, or maybe was it because he's not good enough as a winger? Or a striker. But he can't score enough? And Ranieri, Ciro and Zach didn't play him.

Oh, so many excuses by the haters through out the years. :touched:

Suns, next thing you will hear from the otherside is that Donadoni is a horrible manager and is clueless, hence they are still right about Giovinco.

Yeah, I mean, after all.. Donadoni was terrible in the Euro's 2008, what does he know? That disqualifies his opinion.
