I'm confused. At first you made it sound like he was talking about Juve, then: "My bad, he meant European Championship with Italy."

Now it sounds like you're talking about Juve again?
Yeah, sorry I wasn't clear. What part didn't you understand?
Asked about his return to Juve he said that he wants to play in European Championship in 2012 (that means he needs playing time for the club he plays for)
Then he said it will be easier in Parma.

And I said he probably isn't counting on playing time if he returns to Juve.

@ Gian: Yup I do. I would love to have Gio back here, as an impact sub, or used in a rotation, but not a guaranteed starter, unless we are going to deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation.

@ Haarlems: Nothing is guaranteed, but that squad doesn't look like much of an upgrade over what we currently have. Moreover, Inter and Milan are far superior as it is, and with the likes of Napoli and Roma strengthening we will be left far behind.
That what he likes, Mediocre players:tup:

Ok, i just wanna know, is Pepe really that better than Gio?? I mean, when it comes to this whole Gio thing, i really feel like i know nothing about football cause really cant understand anything.....Was Pepe brought here only because he is better defensively or what??

No, Pepe isn't any better than Giovinco. But apparently, Pepe is better defensively, and that's all that matters to some.

Yet I haven't seen Pepe do much for the defense at all. What exactly does he add defensively? Can he tackle? Have you seen him tackle? Can he mark? Uh huh, nope. Is Pepe tactically sound like Marchisio? Nah man. So what exactly does he do then? Just run back into position when we don't have the ball?

Could it be that since Pepe is a left-winger and not a fucking fullback, his main priority isn't defending? Perhaps.

Pepe receives a free pass because he "works hard" and folks have the misconception that he's good defensively instead of he can run back into a defensive position.

pepe is playing on the left wing giovinco doesnt like that position. i can remember when ranieri played him there you guys moaned that its not his natural position. that means he doesnt fit in 4-4-2 system of dn, thats why he was loaned out or something like loan dont know fuck him. when he doesnt play for juve, then its his fault. a winner searches the mistakes on himself and do not show with the finger on others and say because of this people i didnt make it, thats the behaveour of a loser. rocky said that and rocky is a champ.

"Works hard" doesn't need quotation marks, it's obvious he works hard.

Defensive positioning is important, yes. You can't defend if you are stood in an attacking area, the opponent just runs through and you can get 2 v 1 against your fullback. Is this discussion relevant? Not really, because Giovinco and Pepe are not similar players. Giovinco isn't expected to be tracking back, because he isn't expected to play the same role Pepe does.

the point about the positioning is extremely important not only defensive-wise but also while attacking.
it most of the time suffices when the player tracks back and "marks" or runs with an opponent so the the opposing team does not have many options to play to.
you do not have to be a great dribbler to have an impact while attacking. it is enough to run into spaces to bind opposing defenders and widen/spread their defense to make space for the ball-holding player to run into or play other players into that space.... but obviously this is to hard to get for some of our former pro-soccer players here...

You only have to watch one football match to see how many times a player will be faced with an opponent and pass the ball sideways, give them space however and it's a free run. Different players are more direct of course, and some will enjoy dribbling at players, but positioning is a big aspect of the game.

That's if you want to go with that approach. I wouldn't expect Giovinco to do that, he'll chase back but it's not something he should be doing, his attributes are geared towards going the other way.

When Nani and Valencia play at the same time United play with 3 CM's in 4-5-1/4-3-3. In 4-4-2 it's virtually always one plus Park or Giggs. Fergie balances up the 4-4-2.

I`m confused. Isn`t Giovinco`s future is in Parma`s hands?
From what I understand Parma have a fixed price to sign Giovinco`s other 50%
so If Parma make the offer and they already said they will isn`t Giovinco theirs?

Do Juve have a right to accept or decline the offer? Is the price just fixed if they want him for that price and can we just say no?
