Zola: Giovinco & Rosina Are The Future Of Italian Football

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has hailed Empoli starlet Sebastian Giovinco and Torino winger Alessandro Rosina as the future of Italian football.

The 20-year-old Giovinco, who is owned by Juventus, has been earning rave reviews for his performances for the Italy Under-21s and he set-up four of the Azzurrini’s five goals during last Friday’s 5-0 win over Azerbaijan.

Rosina is three years older, and only slighter taller than the pint-sized Giovinco. He made an impressive debut last month for the Italian senior team against South Africa and was arguably the man-of-the-match until Cristiano Lucarelli scored two late goals.

“The beauty of football is that it is not measured in metres,” said Zola. “We are talking about two great players – they are the future of Italian football."

The two players will come face to face this Sunday as Empoli host Torino in Tuscany.

“On Sunday I would like to go to Empoli because with both of them on the field you know there will be a great show. They remind me of Lionel Messi,” added 'Magic Box’.

“Can they play together? Well for the Under-21s Giovinco has been playing with Giuseppe Rossi.”

Trezeguet Tells Juve: We Must Keep Giovinco

Juventus striker David Trezeguet has lavished praise on wonderkid Sebastian Giovinco and says the club must keep him at all costs.

The 20-year-old Giovinco is one of the most promising young players in Europe and is spending the current campaign on loan to Empoli.

So far the attacking-midfielder has only played a bit-part role in Tuscany, but he has scored two Serie A goals this season, including a stunning strike against Roma.

“He is the kind of player that you go the stadium to pay and buy your ticket to watch,” said Trezeguet.

“He was born to play the game, he is more of a creator of goals than a goalscorer. All he needs is a bit of experience to help him mature as a footballer.

“For sure he has a bright future and Juventus must make sure they do not let him go.”

Trezeguet is has had the past 10 days off as he was not picked by France Coach Raymond Domenech for tonight’s Euro 2008 qualifier with Ukraine. When asked how he felt about his omission Trezegol answered graciously.

“I understand that France at this moment do not require my contribution. We took different roads but there was no drama,” he concluded.

I've just googled 69 and look what I've found:D

"Lizarazu wears jersey number 69 because 3 was taken when he returned from Marseille and because that is the year of his birth and also his weight and height."

I was just reading an article on Euro2008 on the italian version of EuroFootball & it said something about Italy pulling a Walcott and have him in the Euro2008 squad provided he cements a place in Empoli starting 11 and continues to develop. I think this is way way too soon and id have to disagree with it
