De Ceglie will play, but its possible that he will play in the midfield this time around.

Missing so many players in the mids, plus with Santacroce back as a CB, its even more likely then usual that Criscito plays LB, hence De Ceglie being moved up.

Not really, it was clear Rossi was in the waiting room for the Azzurri for a long while now, his career has had more of an headstart to have that opportunity (regardless of the fact that Gio was better in the azzurrini).

Though yes, whats depressing is one hoped Giovinco will showcase himself so far in the season to be atleast mentionned for the azzurri, while so far it has slowed down any hope for that whatsoever.

Sure it was clear that Rossi was in the waiting room and he clearly deserves his Azzurri spot,no doubt.Rossi is very experienced for his age and has played in England,Italy&Spain so far.

I meant that they are about the same age and are pretty much equally talented and look at the difference between these two. That's depressing.I want them both to take part at the WC 2010.

gio has played for the azzurrini today and was pretty lively but unlucky.

did try some shots where most of them were blocked.

santacroce did miss a sitter just a few yards from goal.

italy was denied a clear penalty, but thats it with the refs today

at least seba did play 90 minutes...

btw who is this cerchi ? he played right wing and was absolutely crap ... he has only a strong left foot and could not do anything, because he seemed to be always on the wrong foot because he played right.

ya he was lively but his game was awful...nothing more..sorry but he lost countless balls...he just ran into a wall.... really no good game from him...but the whole team was bad

The whole team was bad, frustrating game for players to try to do anything individually. Worst was Balotelli, who walked around like he was wondering wtf I am here for. Things not working out eventually effected the players.

For example, Giovinco tried many one-twos with his teammates but non of them were really up for it (he misses Rossi). Then it lead to him dropping down quite low to get the balls, and challenging 3-4 german players at once in counters (his decision making became desperate), pretty futile outcome in that kind of scenario in the long run, though dribbled enough of them shot a couple of good shots.

Though the defenders werent bad IMO, and it was big parts where they pressed back the germans back well and dominated at times, worst was IMO was Bolzoni who cant pass for shit, and Lanzafame and Balo who were really and utterly invisible.

Thats a insanely common thing to do, have AMs who drift with more momentum and danger with their best foot. Ale has built his whole career drifting in from the left to go for the kill with hist right, so has Henry etc.

The issue here was Cerci wasnt simply good enough. But the practice itself is more common then outright wingers who hug the line with their prefered foot for that side. Instead its way more about dynamic fake wingers who drift in with the opposite foot of the side they play off.

No offense, but how can one watch footie and not notice this?

That's modern football for you.
Many coaches do that. I know Spain played like that at the EURO. It means less crosses, but much better passes and shots on goal.
i know that e.g. messi plays that way, but shouldn't casiraghi now his players ? cerci did not do anything the whole evening (except getting bullied of the ball most of the time, where once he should have given a penalty).

you can only play that way if the play is used to it, but this guy surely was not used to it ... he did not know how to run at defenders from this side and always made it pretty easy to defend against him...

that cerci could not even dribble with his right foot so the ball was always pretty close to the defender . . . i surely do know players that can play that part but this player was obviously not knowing what to do on this position...
