AML, ML, whatever we call it, De Ceglie has become Ranieri's choice for that position when Nedved is not available.

True, the AML of a 4-4-2 formation is not the best formation for Giovinco. But it doesn't matter here nor is imporant whether he is better than Nedved or not, because I'm talking about he can't even be the second choice for that position. But from the Catania game, I think he is at least OK for that position? At least as a second choice, not third, not fourth or whatever? Or at least deserves to be given another decent opportunity?

Of course Nedved and Camoranesi are not defensive players but they do have much more defensive abilities and tasks than many attacking midfielders out there. De Ceglie, I failed to see he offered enough attacking as a LM but for Ranieri if he can guarantee the coverage and defense, he is a priority than Giovinco.

I'm not saying Ranieri is wrong. It's just his football philosophy. It's not a coincidence that Italy produced far less creative midfielders than Spain, Brasil, Argentina and etc.

And I think Giovinco would hardly shine under this coach and this defensive mentality.

the thing is, it does indeed matter whether we are talking about AML or ML. De Ceglie is ML if you really want to consider him a mid. He's a Leftback in my book, but he's versatile because he makes a lot of runs.

I fail to see how nedved or camo do anything for our defense. but hey, no need to argue here. In my opinion, giovinco will find plenty of room once nedved is gone. I believe we'll see him in the exact neddy-position in some coppa-games, and even if he doesn't shine there; he'll get to it. So far, i wouldn't hurry everything too much. There's plenty of time for the youngsters. Just look at messi - arguably THE best youngster around, well 1 year back, he was nowhere near a starter, although even a blind knew he was the next best thing.

It's important that he gets to know how juve works, gets to practice with the team and slowly gets his appearances. no need to put any champions league pressure, or whatever upon him. As long as nedved's there, giovinco doesn't need to worry about everything, because the experience someone like nedved has is too precious.
Giovinco WILL shine, but there's no need to expect wonder-moves against real or anything. We're fine right now, why change a winning team.

it's because even their defenders do not know how to defend ...
how is a midfielder able to know what to do to defend, if the defender does not know ! so they have to outscore the opponent ;)

Giovinco Will Not Leave Juventus On Loan - Agent

"There are no truths in reports suggesting Giovinco will be leaving,"

"Giovinco is a talent, he is a Juventus player and he will stay there.

"I think it's just simple paper talk regarding him leaving and the reports are without any foundation or truth.

"A lot of things have been said and written about Giovinco but the truth is that Juve are relying on him and therefore he will stay there.

"I think he will always earn himself more space within the team and he is destined to spend his career at Juventus therefore I would like to repeat that the rumours are without foundation."

In some ways he has earned a place, in the few games he played earlier in the season he was great providing assists in each game and looking impressive.

But continuity is the key for Juve at the moment and their is no real reason to change the time while it is on this great run, especially with Nedved playing so well at the moment.

His time will come!

he has earned a place ahead of guys like Nedved or Del Piero? :disagree:
Is that what I said? Coz it doesn't look like that!

I said when he played he impressed! But if you look more closely I said that Nedved's recent form has been too strong to take out of the side. As for Del Piero obviously, Gio should not be playing ahead of him!

I simply said that his form did show that he can play at Juve.

umm yea it does...especially when you wrote "in some ways he has earned a place..."
umm no it doesn't, I said "in some ways" ie it could be argued that he has done enough to earn his place as he performed well, at a time when players around him were not performing.

But overall it would not make sense to put him in the team just now when we are playing well. To be more clear the jist of my point was that he has shown that he can perform for Juve but will have to wait for his time in the first team, as nobody deserves to be dropped.

I even said Nedved is playing too well to put in Gio ahead of him, so how does that say that Nedved should be dropped for Giovinco?

Giovinco WILL get his chance to shine soon. I'm 100% sure that we'll see him soon, but look at the past few games, there just was no room for someone to be 'given a chance'. we came out of a deep crisis, where it was vital to get out of, and we played for surviving the CL-group stages against arguably one of the top7 or so teams in this world. You can't seriously expect a 21-yr old to shine in those games. He'll get his chances, maybe even in the following games, and if not, in coppa games...
no one 'earns' a spot if he does not show to everyone he's the BEST player available at that current moment. This might be due to fitness, tactics, form, mentality, ability or whatever, but i see no reason starting him in front of nedved, only because he's giovinco. make him earn it, and we'll all be happy.

I see him starting against Chievo. Against Roma or Real, he surley would have never been a good choice. We needed Nedved on the left, cause he is just twice as good when it comes to defending. He will get his chance but he will have to be patience. Hopefully we won't hear any crying from Gio in the media and he will wait untill he gets his chance

I don't see why everyone's making such a big deal out of Giovinco not playing. We were in the middle of a 'crisis', so it wouldn't have made sense to start an inexperienced, relatively unproven player.

As much as I think Giovinco has incredible potential and I want to see him play, you also have to be realistic and sometimes go with the safer option of fielding your more experienced players to drag you out of the pits.

That said, the circumstances (Nedved having run a full 90 minutes again Real, playing a weaker team) almost require that Ranieri play Giovinco, so I'll think there's something wrong if he doesn't start against Chievo.

Giovinco's not that unproven though. He's playing in Italy and in Italy you don't get to play until you're 28.
