Gazzetta are reporting that the only "evidence" they have on Criscito is one picture of him with Sculli and a supposedly convicted Bosnian criminal notorious for match fixing. It is very unclear what the meeting was about, but I'd have to say that a guy like Criscito, who is being massacred, deserves a bit more cautious research.

So, more and more is coming out of Carobbio's statements.

These include allegations President Mezzaroma sent word to the locker room that Siena should lose a match against Varese so that he could profit by betting against his own team.
Carobbio also claimed Conte and his staff knew of the request, but both team and Coach refused.
Football-italia.net: Siena respond to betting allegations

This hasn't been in the media yet. Conte and the others refused. So, assuming Corabbio's words are true, they did not follow the order of the president. The trouble now is this weak law, punishing everybody who knows of manipulation and is not putting a criminal complaint. Again, why should a trainer put a complaint against his own team? However, to me it's not even proven this can be seen as full attempt of match fixing since Conte and the squad had it at their hands. They did not follow and ended it.

The goals scored were all hard fought. There were also some great saves by both keepers. No evidence of match fixing whatsoever in those highlights.
It's impossible to tell from the highlights obviously. But if a goalie wants to fuck up on purpose, the first goal is a great example ;). Remember Sörensen in 2004. Exact same situation.

The league will be ruined forever after this, I think. Not enough years have passed since Calciopoli. Two very big scandals in the space of 6 years. The image of Serie-A was already in ruins. What will it be after this? Completely pulverized?

Got to feel sorry for Criscito if he misses they Euros purely because of evidence as flimsy as that.

Gianello (Napoli reserve 'keeper) asked Paolo Cannavaro and Grava to throw a game against Sampdoria (Samp 1-0 Napoli, May 2010), but they both refused.

Still, that would put those players in the same situation as Conte could be in - in trouble for being aware of match-fixing and failing to report it to the authorities.

@Red: yeah. However, this law is weak and needs to be fixed.

Especially regarding Conte. Of course the president has tried to setup the game. The question now is: Did Conte and the squad really break the law? Can it even be counted as a try of matchfixing if they had it in their own hands? Can the law force them to report this incident even though it has been avoided by them and was without consequences. I mean by reporting the incident they would "hurt" themselves...

Novel idea, suspend/stop betting?

But then the criminals would completely control the betting scene and this would still be happening, difference being it being 1000 times to detect without legal betting venues that you can scrutinize. Wouldnt notice something as funny as, in one weekend, Milano derby had 1.5m bet on it, while a Genoa game had 10m+ bet on it...
