Really good performance today, in horrible conditions.

The rain, while unpleasant, wasn't that much of an issue, but the wind was tough. Also, somehow, seemed to blowing in from at least three corners of the ground, which was odd.

Anyway, played 4-4-2 instead of the three/five at the back crap. That allowed us to press high up the pitch and generally set the sort of tempo that is required to dominate and create chances against stubborn sides like St. Johnstone.

4-0 would probably have been a fairer reflection how the game went.

If we can get through the festive period with at least five points from the three games, we'll have kept ourselves in a decent position despite the injury crisis and should be in a position to push on when players return to fitness.

McGinn has become the first Aberdeen player to score eleven goals before Xmas since the start of the SPL (1998).

Because we've had a freakish injury crisis that has left us with barely a fit senior CM or fullback in the last month.

Fortunately, other teams have been struggling, too, so we're still in the pack and some of the injured players are due back soon.

Looks like lots of fun, those guys sure know how to miss great chances and score weird goals. My favorite was Aberdeen's number 4 scoring himself rather than the ball.
May not have been apparent, but the game was played in a very strong wind.

Aberdeen played some remarkably good stuff, considering the conditions.

And we were always likely to win today, what with Dundee being shit and all.

When we play McGinn as a lone striker, we find it very hard to make clear chances until the game opens up.

Once the game is more open, we look very dangerous.

Still lack a clear gameplan of how to move the ball around to make chances. Just tend to rely on getting the ball to Hayes' feet and hoping that he'll do something.

Do quite like the shape of the team with Smith at trequartista and Hayes on the wing.

Could be interesting when Hughes gets fit and we have a midfielder capable of working the ball forward.

Good old Rab Douglas is still hilariously bad.

Gutted about Considine's injury (broken leg).

Sounds like he probably won't play again this season.

Shame for the guy and a significant loss for the team.

He is currently leading my ratings for Aberdeen players this season.

You who follow the scottish league and who beat me in a wager; how will Juve fare against Celtic?

If you've already given your thoughts on this, I apologize. Can't be arsed searching the forum for it right now.

Oh, and 4,000 Dons down there.

And we didn't act like cocks the way the tims did a few days ago.

No reason for Juve not to go through provided they avoid making stupid mistakes.

I'm finding it difficult to predict exactly how the game will go in Glasgow because I'm not sure how Celtic will look to play.

Wouldn't surprise me if they don't play as defensively as the did against Barca and try to have a bit of a go. They don't have anything to lose having surpassed expectations and won't treat Juve with the same reverence they showed Barca.

Celtic can only pose a threat to Juve from set-pieces. They aren't likely to open Juve up in general play and they aren't much good on the counter-attack.

They aren't even a particularly physical side - compared to the last Celtic side that played Juve, anyway.

They are reasonably well organised, but nothing beyond what Juve are accustomed to facing on a pretty regular basis.

I'd guess Juve will probably go through 3-1 or 4-1 aggregate.

Also, we were denied a stonewall penalty when 1-0 up and it would have had to be a red card.

I haven't looked back through to verify this, but I've consulted a few folk and they haven't been able to correct me:

I believe Aberdeen were last awarded a penalty in an away game in May 2007.

May have taken a draw with Utd before the game, but was still pretty distressing how it came about.

We should have been out of sight, then shot ourselves in the foot.

Rarely have a seen a team make such a complete mess of playing against a team playing a defensive 4-4-1-1.

Doesn't take a genius to work out how to handle the CF and the trequartista with a DM and two CBs.

Still, the winter break should allow us to get players back fit, so we've survived the injury crisis and managed to stay in the hunt.

We also aren't likely to be weakened this month with players leaving, where several other clubs are expected to lose key players.
