So do I, but I suspect he my struggle with the pace of the Championship.

As good as he is at reading the game, he is painfully slow.

Hearts are the only club outside the old firm with a winning record and a positive goal difference

Hearts are the only non-Old Firm team that haven't spent at least three years being absolutely garbage.

I would be more interested to see what the average points totals in the SPL are (done reasonably properly by not counting the best and worst year for each side).

I'm sure Hearts would still come out top, though.

well we have only finished outside the top 6 once since the SPL started so is not really such a shock, a bad season has generally constituted just missing out on a European place. but still is a sad indicator that only 1 club outside the old firm has a winning ratio and goal difference

3m and he will eb away, though we are making all the right noises about keeping him for another year that sort of money for a home grown player is too tempting. plus with Goncalves back we could always push "shotgun" Lee Wallace further forward and allow him to maraud further forward or use the new guy Suso on the left (though i think he is there to replace Kingston)

John Hartson has cancer.

I'm not even going to pretend to be sympathetic.
:snoop:

Hated him on the football pitch but he was a good player and more recently I quite like him as a pundit on Setanta. I thought that he would be heavily biased towards Celtic with nothing sensible to say but was pleasantly surprised with his comments.

Like or hate him though, cancer is a terrible illness for both the sufferer and their friends and family.

I wish him all the best!

He sounded ever bit the bitter and twisted tim after we beat them 4-2 this season.

Refused to give Aberdeen any credit and claimed that at least three of our goals should have been disallowed.

I see very little Setanta.

I only saw Hartson's comments on that game because they were brought to my attention.

Aberdeen's summer transfer campaign has sprung into life with, wait for it, a backup backup 'keeper that no-one has heard of.

"Bear in mind that Setanta's failure to pay the final tranche of last season's payments meant we had to wipe more than a quarter of a million pounds off the bottom line for season 2008/09. Now we are in a situation where we have to operate with an annual budget of £600,000 less than originally budgeted for next year that has the potential to rise to over £1 million over the coming couple of years. To put that into context, to plug the gap we require either four thousand extra fans at every home SPL fixture or we need to the reach the group stages of the Europa Cup every year and hope to get a couple of lucrative ties in the group. That would simply allow us to reach the original figures we were looking at with no upside. Make no mistake, every SPL club is suffering right now and I do mean every club."

-Duncan Fraser

Willie Miller added, "We tried to bring a couple of lads in on loan from a mid table Championship side but, given these guys were on £3,500 and £5,000 per week respectively, we simply cannot compete and equally, while we will do everything we can to support Mark, we have to ensure Aberdeen Football Club is still around in the future and, let's be frank, there are top clubs whose long term future is by no means a certainty.

Interesting/depressing explanation of the current economic situation in the SPL.

Won't affect Hearts, since they will keep spending money they don't have.
