Saudi Shia held a demonstration in the Eastern province, close to Bahrain, days after authorities freed Shi'ite prisoners following a similar protest.
Dozens of Shi'ite sgathered on Thursday night in Qatif, the main Shi'ite town in the Eastern province, to demand the release of fellow prisoners held for long periods without trial, resident Shi'ite sources said on Saturday.

It said protesters had carried pictures of prisoners whose release they demand.

Analysts say top OPEC exporter Saudi Arabia would be worried if protests in Bahrain, where majority Shi'ites have been demonstrating against the Saudi government, spread to its Shi'ite minority who mostly live in the Eastern province, the source of Saudi oil wealth.

...

And now the police are in everywhere as I heard that there will be an other big demonstration after 10 days .
People here saying that they don't want money or anything , they just want the government to release the prisoners whom have been in jail for more than 15 years without even a trial .
As the government were putting tens of Shi'ite people in jail just randomly after the Khobar Towers bombing in 1996 .

The royal family has banned all protests and marches in a bid to curtail Shia protests in the oil-producing eastern provinces.

    Popping off again.

Saudi police open fire at protest

CAIRO -- Saudi police have opened fire at a rally in the kingdom's east in an apparent escalation of efforts to stop planned protests.

Government officials have warned they will take strong action if activists take to the streets after increasing calls for large protests around the oil-rich kingdom to press for democratic reforms.

A witness in the eastern city of Qatif says gunfire and stun grenades were fired at several hundred protesters marching in the city streets Thursday. The witness, speaking on condition of anonymity because he feared government reprisal, said police in the area opened fire. The witness saw at least one protester injured.

This is all going to blow up sooner or later.

Saudi authorities said that the demonstrations failed today because these authorities knew who were behind them. According to them, the accused people are:

    A Saudi in Iraq
    A Saudi in London
    An Egyptian guy
    An Irani guy

I do not understand how that stopped the demonstrations.

"Waleed Sulais, a Shia activist from Qatif said the protests were not in response to the so called Day of Rage, but to demand the release of nine Shia prisoners held since 1996".

The videos you posted were from Thursday protests in the city of Qatif.

Friday March 11, 2011 (so called 'Day of Rage')

The so called 'Day of Rage' protests which were planned to be held in all major cities in Saudi Arabia didn't even happen, not a single protester!

On Friday, only one protest in the city of Qatif which had about 200 people continued to protest only for the release of prisoners.
