Because Priests are the physical disciples of God, basically doing the work of God here on Earth. After you confess your sins, the Priest gives you insight on what to do in the future and gives you penance. This has to do with Contrition, acceptance of punishment, and finally Absolution.

Yeah exactly. SAT's are only good for seeing how well students can do on the board's tests, hardly a good way of measuring someone's intelligence.

What makes them disciples of god? arent they just human like you and me with their own sins and faults? And if they give us insights, why is their a book and the teachings of jesus? if you did something wrong just dont do it again! ...my point is that you dont have to repent and be forgiven through a priest.

In Islam there are Sheiks or scholars...but forgiveness is not tied to them...you can repent on your own without going back to them..because the good is clear and the sins also are clear .they are there also to give us insights and help us when there is an ambigious case that normal muslims cannot know or do not know the consequences. Also, these scholars do not have to go through a system to become who they are. True that they usually go to Islamic schools or universities...but generally anybody knowledgable through reading books or listening to other scholors could give you "insight"

Not at all.

Claire isnt punk, she dosent think she is or even want to be. Though she does look punk to you, because you associate punk with fashion. Really she looks like every other english girl. Maybe alittle retro/alternate. Not punk at all. Dont believe what she tells you or what she looked like 2 years ago.

Being punk is entirely different. Its being a part of rebellious counterculture, punk is freedom. Claire sleeps and is tied down with uni, work and family and couldnt give a shit about you, me, anyone or any place. She dosent want to change anything unless its for her own benefit.

Its just the way its done. Confession is a sacrament. It takes a long while to become a priest
