In Islam there are Sheiks or scholars...but forgiveness is not tied to them...you can repent on your own without going back to them..because the good is clear and the sins also are clear .they are there also to give us insights and help us when there is an ambigious case that normal muslims cannot know or do not know the consequences. Also, these scholars do not have to go through a system to become who they are. True that they usually go to Islamic schools or universities...but generally anybody knowledgable through reading books or listening to other scholors could give you "insight"

Maybe in your religion, not ours. It's hard for people to understand when they are so much involved in their own respective religion. Again, it's all based on Catholic teachings. The Priest is important in all of this because he is the messenger who absolves you from your sins here on Earth.

Well, a lot of things don't make sense, especially women covering their faces because it's a "sin" if they do not. That's why I don't question the teachings of other religions.

Drink driving is to drive after drinking.
Drunk driving would be to drive after getting drunk. You could be sober but still be drink driving.
