Is it really that hard to agree with me that in order to form a balanced opinion about ANY matter or person, as much information as you can possibly get your hands on would not only be well appreciated, but downright necessary?

I don't think TV is enough.

Siding with a man who ventilates clearly subjective opinions regardless of whether there might be some or very little truth to it, proof does not exist, and hating someone you do not even know as a result... It was fools like you who helped Adolf Hitler to power.
10 posts? Must be a new Godwin's law record.

Yeah, I got other information. Like comments from victims of RvN's behaviour. They were on TV and in the papers too. Have they been doctored for sensationalism?

you can base your opinion on Rvn 'the footballer' by his actions on the pitch either by watching on tv or going to the game and imo his in-game behaviour mirrors what vieira said in his book.

Not the point. The point is that all of it is subjective, even if unintended. That makes it dangerous to form your opinion based on a very small flow of information that is only rarely objective. And that, to me, is the definion of "TV"

Jesus man! Are you even reading what you're posting?

From watching van Nastilroy play on TV, no matter what stadium he's in, he plays the same sneaky kind of game.

Vieira went on to say (in the same autobiography) that he had loads of respect for Paul Scholes and Roy Keane. Scholes cos he gives as good as he gets, and doesn't roll around on the floor trying to get opponents sent off, and Keane cos he's an honest chap who is wholly committed to his role as Man Utd captain. Vieira used the tunnel incident at Highbury as an example. He said when he warned Neville about kicking Reyes, Keane jumped right in and said,"If you have a problem, take it up with me." Vieira said he admired that Keane instantly stood up for his teammate.

I also admire Roy Keane and Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. These are players who are purists. Keane is a hard man, and does his job no matter what anyone says. Scholes does his duty and doesn't ask for medals. Ditto for Giggs. I'll always hold these men, who play for a club I happen to dislike rather intently, in the highest regard.

Yet, I've never met them personally, yet I think they are all great guys. All I know about them is what I've seen on the same TV screens on which I've seen van Nastilroy being a nasty piece of work.

Is there a special camera team for van Nastilroy, and another for the rest of his teammates?

I am not. You suggest that TV is a small, biased, and inaccurate medium upon which to base an opinion of someone. I disagree, and hold that in fact, TV is a great medium upon which to base an opinion as to someone's character.

I never met Adolf Hitler. I never got to witness the brutality of Dachau and Auschwitz first-hand. All I know about him is what I've seen of survivors accounts of the horrors of the concentration camps on TV. That was more than enough for me to form the opinion (set in reinforced concrete) that if faced with Hitler, a charging lion and a fully-roused spitting cobra, and being possessed of only two bullets, I'd shoot Hitler twice in the head, and stomp him to make sure. I needed no other source, for the images of his actions were quite enough.

It is often said that a picture is worth a thousand words. That is the beauty of TV- it provides moving pictures.

Personally, I think Vieira showed a lot of restraint in his language. I on my own can think of a lot of more colourful things to call RVN...
