Well, seeing as Vieira is no longer my captain, and is now a Juventini (hope I got that right), the job of defending his comments now falls to all Juventus fans. Have fun guys.:D

Everything Vieira has said about Van Nistelrooy is spot on accurate. After seeing a bunch of Man U matches, it is obvious how the guy cheats, dives, cries to the ref, but he also is a dirty mutha. Sly kicks and elbows are a big part of his game.

If you think that Van Nistelrooij is the only striker who cheats, dives, cries to the ref, or elbows people, you're a long way off. Ruud is an exceptional talented striker and he uses all the same tactics that Vieri, Ronaldo, and even Ibrahimovic use. Besides, it's not as if defenders never cheat to stop strikers.

The game today is fundamentally flawed in that money has replaced honour, and therefore, how can a player be successful playing completely with-in the rules? I think this just proves that football players should not be allowed to publish autobiographies until ten years after their retirement.

I'm afraid I will have to disagree here, Ian.

My mistake, he's, "exceptionally talented." You can't cheat your way to the top of the game, and don't even try to say that you can.

Fine.

But would you bother and tell me the "exceptionally talented" you see in him?

im not sure if honour was ever really in the game....wel the Argentinians didnt have it. Estudiantes players used to carry hat pins while playing to poke the oposition.....which was nice of them.

Alright. He's fast, strong, agile, and intelligent. He can pass, shoot from all over, he's got a bullet header, he can cross, and he makes great runs. He's a world class finisher, and can set up his fellow strikers. He has good footskills too and can even defend when the fancy strikes him.

Of course there were always instances where winning meant more than playing. But I think that at some point there was a shift between football as a game and football as a business. And that shift included using all physical methods available to beat your opponent, legal or otherwise.

but as any true, unbiased soccer fans, especially the united variety ... they would say that at times he is slow, disinterested, dopey, cant finish, no touch and generally a Donkey..........but at others he is the ultimate goal machine.

There was defo a moment of shift...be it the creation of the Epl for england, or other financial aspect of the game.

But at least most of the old problems are going, be it racism, riots, booze and drugs are all improving much more.
