Maybe not the army cause Putin and the FSB have been neutering them for the past 20 years exactly out of this fear.
So you’re admitting it’s not NATO then, it’s that Putin his oligarchs and their FSB are terrified of their own citizens and army overthrowing them because they see how much better citizens living in democratic former USSR nations have it than they do. The closer the Baltic states, Ukraine, Georgia, Poland, etc grow to the west the better the standard of living grows and Putin is terrified of his citizens understanding this and demanding change which is why Kremlin propaganda machine is screaming 24/7. Thank you for admitting this :) :lol3:

I don't follow, NATO what?
If I understand you correctly, even then both statements can be true

And he said IF, and that's a big IF imo. he also said it wont be by the citizens which I agreed with.

This invasion has zero to do with NATO. It has to do with Putin’s obsession with restoring the former glory and influence of the USSR. He’s built his entire career on this idea, and the idea of a Christian fascist Russian empire under his iron fisted rule. That’s why he has his propaganda going 24/7 to brainwash his citizenry into supporting this insanity. And why he’s invading Ukraine out of the fear that his own citizenry will wake up and demand change when they see just how much better life is in west-aligned nations.

I think the timing and manner have a lot to do with NATO. for the rest I completely agree, I don't see contradiction.

 il play

Without google i might misspel but Latvia, lithuania and estonia. I think

Turkey counts?
Estonia, Latvia and Norway border Russia directly. Lithuania and Poland border Kaliningrad. Turkey and the US have maritime borders with Russia.
Now that you know that seven NATO countries already border Russia, why do you think Ukraine’s desire to join NATO is a valid justification for Russia to attack? In any case, the likelihood of Ukraine joining NATO was very very slim.

It's not about NATO encroachment, it's about Russia thinking this is the right time to grab land and force neutrality before Ukraine will have a chance to join, whether you, me or anyone else thinks there was ever a such a chance, there were clear, public calls from NATO that Ukraine membership will be considered. Also you will fail to find a single post where I said it's a valid "justification", so I'm not playing that strawman game.

But I'll keep playing

The argument itself is superficial and fails on it's own.

Russia total border with 5 NATO countries is 1,262 km. Russia border with Ukraine alone is 2,100 km. It will also open a new possible front as it will be a land border on Russia's south.

Thank you google

Its staggering how not a single argument you make lands even remotely, and all you’re getting back is policing, ridicule and strawmen.
