Yes, but not if if you’re self employed. If you have an employer, you still have to report secondary income, like dividends or capital gains. And everyone still has to file tax returns (an annual tax report) by April, self-employed or not. I’m in the process of filing right now, the federal taxes are easy but the state taxes are a nightmare because I lived in 2 states last year.

Even better. The IRS is like a mafia when it comes to the banks in other countries. I’ve lost count of how many banks or investment companies or apps approached me for something other than the European mattress fund at my Portuguese bank.
Once they find out in American, it’s like I’m the famous ex.girlfriend of a global drug lord. Nobody wants to touch me … like I’m a financial leper. Cause those American goons will come down and fook sheeeeet up with bats.

Yes. Then at the start of the next year you file your tax return and report how much money you made over the previous year from all sources. The government then tells you if you were taxed too much and get a refund, or too little and you have to pay. This year I get to pay $1,800, what a fun guessing game!
I know what they're counting on: they think they will win because they are willing to do and say absolutely anything necessary, no matter how immoral, ridiculous or crazy. They think they have this edge over the other side, but it's not strength it's weakness.
We pay 49% of our salary to taxes here, I never heard anyone complaining about it. Yet ‘I pay my taxes’ is the most famous sentence besides ‘they took our jobs’ and ‘democracy’ from the USA. What a contrast

Actually, I didn't even owe the government taxes but I forgot to close my tax account and got fined for failing to submit tax reports. So, there's no ways I'm paying these turds lol. It would be more expensive for the government to try and collect that money from me than just letting it go.
