So anyone else still into this show? I'm nearly at the end of season 2. Loving the second series, might even be better than the first season.

Season 2 ended last sunday here, the thing that i miss the most from season 1 is the "cac" "jupiter's cock" and other culturally colorful expressions pullo used. But remember kids a large penis is always welcome

Well Marc Antony's bigger role(not that he had a small part in season 1) makes up for that, as far as I am concerned. The guy's part is brilliant.

i agree he carried the whole season, purefoy has a real bright future ahead of him. But i personally enjoy Octavian and his shrewd cunning more than the decadent orgies and the drug binges of Marc Anthony

The actor swap for Octavian ruined his part a bit for me. The newer guy does a good job, but it just seems like a new person, which leads to less of a 'relation' to the audience and thus he doesn't have the impact his persona could've had.

Liked this season immensely, maybe only one episode I thought was weak. My only criticism perhaps was they rushed some of the events, and the blatent historical inaccuracies.

Shame there won't be any more, but then again The Sopranos returns soon.

It's a shame indeed, saw the final episode just yesterday. Many great characters meeting their (predictable) end. Great show, i'll miss it. One critique concerning the final episode; I thought the Caesarion arc was a little childish, they should've kept it just as a wink to the attentive viewer.

*spoilers below*

I watched the complete show in a week. This is by far the best thing that has ever hit the TV, and that includes Sopranos and House, two of my favourite shows before Rome.

It's a perfect drama, they practically thrown out all of the violence from it, not completelly but it was kept to a bare minimum. The whole show was based on the story, the characters, their lives, their betrayals, their loves, etc. How can it get any better than that? They didn't even stray from controversial subjects such as homosexuality, pedophilia, incest, etc. I was completelly shocked when Atia praised Octavian, her freaking son, for supposedly seducing Ceasar!

When Ceasar defeated Pompey's army you didn't even see two seconds of fighting, you saw Ceasar lying on the bed and saying; "Ceasar has won". I know money was an issue probably, but still, I really believe the lack of mass fighting scenes gave a lot of credibility to the show.

The actors are incredible, each and everyone of them. The guy that played Ceasar was phenomenal, hell everyone was, from Anthony to Cicero, from Pullo to Octavian, the younger and the newer one.

The choreography, the music was the best I have seen in any Rome inspired show or movie.

But most of all they finished it properly. They didn't stretch it, they didn't squeeze the life out of it and it's base storyline. They took the most interesting part of Roman history, brought it to life and finished it perfectly.

The best show that ever hit the TV. Definetly.
