He makes plenty though. He makes the most progressive passes in our team and comparing to other Serie A players he is just below some of the elite players in that category. The problem is that some on here seem to think every pass should go forward.
I'd be happy if he took more risks going forward. I don't mind losing possession by trying to get the killer pass in in the final third. He ends up losing possession often in the worst areas to lose it. The only way he is going to get better is by attempting them. If by progressive passes you mean passes to Morata's feet with his back to goal and a defender on him, then its rarely going to amount to much. If by progressive passes to cut through the backline then yeah, he can lose those all he wants if he is at least trying..or any midfielder is trying...I'm OK with that.

There is a difference how the pass forward is IMO. (ie. to strikers feet with a defender on him and back to goal)

Look man

Chiesa Bentancur Rabiot Mckennie
Dybala Morata

Morata lost like every single duel today, Palombo owned him hard. Dybala is all over the place and not fit enough yet. And they had numbers in defense anyway, 3 CBs vs Dybi and Morty. They press hard when we have the ball, they have numbers through the middle and we have numbers and quality over them wide. Now you're Bentancur and get the ball there. Wat do? I'd pass it to Chiesa/Cuads, or back to the CBs if they are covered. Next best option is passing to Rabiot who can carry the ball forward technically, but he never does, or just drifts to the left with it. We can't play this game unless we get more players that know how to play and move in the final 3rd
Morata: off day, off for some time now actually
Dybala: coming back from injury
Chiesa: our best attacker this season, he gets a pass
McKennie: he actually GOT into the box today
Rabiot: needs sold

Bentancur: most experienced CM we have. He fucking sucks. If our most seasoned CM is this toothless then holy fucking shit balls.

I'm not asking for regularity. I'm asking AT LEAST sparingly or attempts to make that killer pass. Cuads had a lovely pass in the first half. That's an example.

If current modern game is sideways passing, keep possession by minimal risk so passing back to the CB then we are obviously CL finalists.
I think the problem here is that many find it easier to understand players with obvious strengths and weaknesses. All-around players like Rabiot and Bentancur seem to get shat on much more than some less complete players in our team. For whatever reason people on this forum don't seem to like these serviceable no thrill kinda players that don't have that one key attribute that distinguishes them.

Yes correct, none of those were viable passing options today. The smartest thing a Juve mid can do in this limited environment is pass to Cuadrado or Chiesa. They are our only sources of creativity this season

Marchisio was exactly that. And he shit on players like Bentancur & Rabiot.

If we had someone as good as Marchsio (no thrills but does everything well) it sorta breaks your heart seeing Rabiot & Bentancur play if that's the argument. And its an interesting viewpoint to take don't get me wrong, haven't thought about it that way to be honest. But if that is perhaps true, then the actually "all round players" we had in the past did so well, it sorta sucks to see the point where Bentancur is that player in this current crop.

Even a full strength lineup Bentancur doesn't offer anything. I don't see how he can be defended at this point.

De roon and freuler had 4 key passes between them today. Rabiot and Benta? 0. Our midfield is an embarrassment, and Bentancur is a big part of it.
De Room and Freuler had 3 CBs and 2 zero threat strikers behind them, a high pressing team which allows them to play higher up, and a target man in Zapata that can play with his back to the goal. Different environment to our mids

As I already pointed out basically no player in the world makes the passes you require with any sort of regularity. Imo the job of a midfielder in the attacking phase is to move the ball from the defensive half to the forward players then it's up to the forwards/wide players to do something with it. In todays game most top teams try to find those one on ones where the attacking players can then make the difference.

I wish we had a striker/attacker with genuine pace. Maybe its because our form is so bad that it seems like any quick movements from them are always slower than the opposition players marking them. It seems like we have lost any pace...

I'm pretty sure the younger version Marchisio also got his fair share of stick from the fans for ghosting. Marchisio was a great player and even he needed time to mature to play in a more prominent ball playing role. It wasn't until his late twenties that he started playing that sort of role.

I think all out of Chiesa, Ronaldo and Morata are pretty fast. I think the problem is that we're simply a bit too predictable at his point. Pirlo hasn't really changed anything for a good while now and we basically approach every game the same way. I would imagine that it's quite easy to prepare for a game against us at the moment.

All round shitty players you mean? They suck at everything equally.

He's okay in that Arthur-Mckennie-Bentancur midfield, we've won almost all the games those guys started together.
You're right that we won almost every match when these 3 started together. Statistically, it does look good, but I'm trying to remember these matches, and on most of them we were really bad/terrible, despite the wins.

62 minutes against Spezia (2:1 with them; 4:1 FT)
27 minutes against Atalanta (0:0 with them; 1:1 FT)
62 minutes CL against Ferencvaros (1:1 with them; 2:1 FT)
19 minutes against Sassuolo (0:0 with them; 3:1 FT)
78 minutes against Bologna (2:0 with them, 2:0 FT)
75 minutes against Sampdoria (1:0 with them; 2:0 FT)
83 minutes SUPERCOPPA Napoli (1:0 with them; 2:0 FT)

Last 10 minutes against Napoli (0:1 with them; 2:1 FT)
Last 15 minutes against Genoa (0:0 with them; 3:1 FT)

73 minutes against Parma (3:1 with them; 3:1 FT)

They haven't played together in Coppa Italia.
